05:41 They didn't die in the video, because i think it's implied they all died. Iirc, Firefly told us on the rooftop that she's the only survivor of a war that destroyed her home planet. I could imagine there's one other that got away as a story device to make Firefly confront her past (Hoyo could also do it with recordings or things/places that trigger flashbacks etc). You're right with the Evangelion references, the guys from Hoyo are admittedly the biggest Evangelion fans ever (with references and similar themes all through their games). The bodysuits look almost identical. I also think there could be a very sinister truth behind all the SAM's. The pilots seem somehow genetically altered (they all have the same disease/condition Firefly has). Either it gives them the ability to pilot the mechs, or that they're forced to stay in the mechs and fight the swarm because they know they'd die outside of the mechs. And/Or it could also be some kind of accelerated aging to quickly make new soldiers that are able to fight. With the focus on Firefly styling herself to look different/individual, i think assuming some kind of cloning going on isn't too far fetched either (going from Evangelion to Star Wars prequels as inspiration). And with how the Pilots acted, i think they don't know they're just created to be disposable soldiers. They expressed hopes of a life after the war and also weren't too worried about taking off the mechsuits (but there were regulations against it so that they don't find out before they've served their purpose). They also seemed to go from planet to planet and conflict to conflict, which could indicate that they're like a Xianzhou+Abundance thing and they just follow the swarm through the universe, but it could also be that the organisation behind it all clones/breeds/creates an expendable mercenary force and sells their services throughout the universe. That could explain Firefly's fight against fate/destiny (how she tries to go against elios script multiple times in an effort to proof to herself that her destiny to be a soldier and nothing else doesn't define her). It's really fun comparing the influences of Star Rail and Genshin. With Genshin, it's mostly religious and literary inspirations and with Star Rail it's pop culture. And neither is better or worse, they both fit the respective tone and themes of each game.

100% pulling E0 S1 i cannot wait. Also the trailer is gonna be hype. I hope the other girls get introduced into the story or become playable at some point. The one with glasses is very cute
