the point of a moderator is to keep the discussion productive. Myron may be spitting his opinions, but they don't add anything to the conversation if they're not backed up by anything, hence they are unproductive. Nothing wrong with asking Myron to use his experience, especially because his opinions DO matter less when they aren't backed up. It's simple logic.
