Im a black man married to a Japanese woman. Her hair goes past her waist. But she has a hair piece to make it look like she has bangs, so she doesn't have to cut her hair to make them. She also has wigs that make it look like she has shorter hair for different short hair styles. Not only that, but she has different color wigs so she doesnt have to dye her hair and for my own personal... reasons😁 I dont know why it should matter if a woman wears a weeve or not. Its not an all the time thing. Sometimes i have to detangle my daughters long hair. That shit takes about 40 min. If i was a woman and i could avoid having to spend 40 min everyday combing my hair. I would.
And that's EXACTLY why a lot of people do it. Personally, I wear weaves when I feel like it because it's easier day to day even though when I take it out and wear my own hair that grows out of my head, people don't notice the difference because my hair is long too.

I dated this black guy in college. I wore my hair in a bun, slicked back and what not. He proceeded to call me nappy headed. So I had a Christmas event a month later. I got extensions for the look I was going for. He berated me for that and said "I was trying to be white." Dumped his ass. No matter what bw do, bm and other will always have an issue with it. As a black girl gotta agree with you on that one. Used to wear weaves and then one day I just didn’t. And the response from the public was insane. (I was in the beauty industry so I’m talking like a 100 people a day commenting on how good I looked natural.) this is in all white Australia. So now I either rock the hair or braids. The braids get more love obviously because of the designs and patterns. But here they’re considered “African”. Personally I like to stick to natural styles. But that’s a personal choice. Which means I don’t speak on anyone else’s hair. So do what you want. And let other people do as they please too.

I use to wear weave and im all natural now, but neither hairstyles made me less than a person. Society tells us our natural hair isn't professional and then you get certain BM that makes a big deal about hair. If the womans character is upstanding, why do they care? Same for women and darker men being perceived as stronger. Personally, I was raised when men were honest about not liking dark bw so I developed thick skin early against bm. It doesn’t bother me that bm don’t like us, it bothers me that they continue to demand standards from us when they’d never peruse us anyway, because we aren’t non black. Focus on who and what you want and ignore those and what you don’t.

As a black woman, I can admit that my huge thick Afro is not received the same way as my silk press or a wig. Even when it comes to job interviews, I’ll wear straight hair and after I get the job I’ll ease into my natural hairstyles. I personally feel like it would be much harder to get a job with my natural hair in its natural state even though I think it’s beautiful. (Sad truth.)

Black women have the best tips for hair. They know what they are doing. They wear the wigs and weaves to protect their own hair. I had even considered it at one point in my life. But I just stuck to the bonnets at night and castor/ Jamaican castor/ coconut oil/ olive oil vitamin e on my hair only and my hair was saved. I don’t think it’s a self hatred thing like everybody thinks. It’s more of restoring the damage that was in style years back. Including perms and dyes and whatever else was in style that was so damaging. Hair takes time to grow. It’s dedication of time. And the less it touches this polluted air in America the better and healthier it grows. And I’ve been oiling my hair and scalp for 15 years! It’s the sistas in my hood that helped me and not even my people did. They envied my hair and cut it intentionally short. This obsession over protective hair strategies is ridiculous 🙄

I wear my natural hair wrapped with wool (a.k.a. "locks"), but every single one of my white girlfriends wears weaves - sewn, or clipped in, as well as professionally, individually-glued hair extensions. It looks awesome on them, but it is laughably ironic that the only one in our clique wearing natural hair is the black girl 🤭

You know Oshay, despite what Myron says about us. When I met him, he was a kind and gracious host. He treated me like a human being and was extremely respectful. I was well liked by his staff and audience and it was a great show. I received a “Don Demarco” and some mixed chick got kicked off for being ghetto. Although, I am natural and I wear my microlocs, I was wearing plaits that evening. So imho, bw should start wearing their hair, but that isn’t the issue. It’s the positive disposition most men are looking for. I’ve been told I’m a very pleasant person, who dresses modestly, so I get great results. People treat people they like, better. 🤷♀️
