Temple Complex Baalbek:
This famous Temple Complex Baalbek is located in the Lebanese town of Baalbek. It is Lebanon's greatest Roman treasure and is counted as one of the best preserved Wonders of the ancient world. When we say the ancient world we mean over 8000 years ago!
The ruins at Baalbek contain large, man made stones with impressive intricate designs that remain a historical mystery.
Historians from all around the world are puzzled as they can not tell us who, how or when these magnificent buildings were made. What we do know is that the Temple Complex of Baalbek was a Phoenician city, once known as Heliopolis. Heliopolis is a Greek term meaning "the City of the Sun." This was a sacred place where worshipers and pilgrims used to travel from faraway lands so they could worship the three deities or gods known as Jupiter, Venus and Mercury.
Baalbek has had many rulers and it has been difficult to know who was responsible for building this majestic ancient city. Was it the Phoenicians, Romans or The Macedonian king Alexander the Great? Maybe you can solve this mystery?

The temple of Bacchus is a monument dedicated to the Roman God of Wine. It is considered to be the unspoiled example of Roman design as most of its columns remain standing. This temple of Bacchus is exceptional; it is richly and abundantly decorated
