This movie was great because everyone was fearful of the African American family because of what they thought would happen to them because of their presence...but didn't notice the very threat in their community already
Didnt watch it, but from this recap the family just seemed to be a side note to the bigger story with Matt damon.....from the previews I figured they would be more forefront
Was actually an amazing visual and conceptual juxtaposition with the mob becoming fully agitated infront of the family's home while the murders were happening silently next door
I know there is a moral to the story but its so in your face that i wonder if there is something else im missing. Is there supposed to be a metaphor beyond the, "racist town ignore crime" story?
Great recap and this moves seems utterly insane! 💕 reminds me of the old brittish films where there is not much of a happy ending and basically everyone dies.
Nicknaming the two killers as "hit-men" rather than killers/robbers kind of gave away the twist immediately imo, lol. That poor kid though. He didn't deserve any of that.
Ugh...the whole point of this movie is messed up, I pretty sure they trying to connect the African-American & the messed up family + the "seemingly peaceful" neighborhood plot but uhh..they failed terribly in this one 🤷
Nah the point is that the people were so focused on the African American family simply being there that they ignored an entire murder going on in their own community. That’s the point. You failed terribly at catching it.
@@corimoon3360 I don't think that's OP's point. You could literally take away that African-American family subplot and the movie won't change at all. The only thing that loosely connects the family with the messed up couple was their kid. If the new family where the main characters then I would agree but they're basically just a prop that doesn't move the plot.
"The son arrives to find the house empty. Then he hears sounds from the basement and goes to investigate. He finds his father and his aunt in a compromising position." (Or something similar.) Then the house wasn't empty.
The narrator is just saying the son found the house empty. That was his reality at that moment whether fact or not. It’s basically just an observation. English is weird lol
I think that it means to show how people were to busy hating and abusing them to notice what was happening with the other family and their crimes. Sorry about my English.
Absolutely nothing it seems. I think the director wanted a "RACISM BAD!" message for the movie, while the kids became friends to show that racism isn't inherent or whatever. But turned out to be a completely pointless sub-plot that achieved nothing of value to the movie.
@@rileyboy10 actually it showed that people are so busy with hate for anything different that they don’t notice the crimes going on in their own backyard.. the fact that you missed that and complained about “RaCisM BaD!” shows you don’t pay attention and you think with a very shallow mindset. It’s a very subtle message but very easy to catch on to if you’re not too busy trying to ignore the uncomfortable truth of racism.
