Reusing halves of split cards is so cool! The playtest cards in this set really was a brilliant idea to make a fun convention draft format, well, fun but also chaotic and memorable.
cool boosters, but the most money cards are removed and the foils too… so its too expensive to buy, except your playgroup says playtest cards are okay in edh
And, of course, you could just take one half of a split card and print it. Like: "Boom" -1R - Sorcery - Destroy target land you control and target land you don't control.
Suggestion: can you start including "filmed on" dates on these? Sometimes it's curious to see what past Graham thinks about things that have already happened, such as the release of convention boosters to stores
I appreciate the cards generally staying on screen longer in this one-it made it much easier to follow along! Also, I LOVE the idea of mixing and matching split card parts. That's a really cool idea!
5:20. MATT. XD. The Intl. Phonetic Alphabet committee is gonna getcha one of these days XD;;. And continued thanks for the lapel mics, audio is *chefkiss.
They must have filmed this... I'm not sure when, either. Because most of the Mystery Booster cards have crashed in price, Start // Fire is barely $5 now.
Someone forgot to hit the shift key when writing the prices for cards. Casual 4 in the middle of the pricing haha. Great content though always happy to watch these videos.
I love the idea of reusing old halves of split cards to make new split cards. Commander/Singleton question for that though, in this instance using Start//Finish, Start//Fire & Fire//Ice in the same deck. Would that count as 2 instances each for Fire and Start, and not be allowed or do the split cards count their whole card for the purpose of deckbuilding?
So something to know the play test cards from that version are worth more than the ones that were released at retail in August. The original play test cards do not have the planeswalker symbol & the new ones do.
That is actually incorrect. The old ones had the planeswalker fork in the bottom left. The reprints from this summer don't. So with fork in this case costs more than without fork!
They're on sale in the UK at the time this video has gone out - I bought one when Midnight Hunt launched and my 'older' card ended up being Purphoros, God of the Forge.
I've been able to do some Mystery Booster drafts at my LGS, both convention and non-convention editions. It's ridiculously fun. And I got to explain how cool Start//Fire was to the person who drafted it at one!
Hey, I finally got to meet LRR folks at Pax South 2020. I distinctly remember doing the Theros PR that weekend and buying a Jund Em Out Shirt from Beej.
It’s actually a little closer to mɛnät͡ʃe , or mɛnät͡ɕe if you have the che sound a little more palatalized, like a Japanese ち. Graham pronounces it a little closer to the latter, so you could also represent it as a little bit retracted by putting a lil minus sign under it.
Gunk Slug was a really cool card design btw. Possibly too frustrating for actual regular play? But as a design space, very creative! Very fun seeing it for silly, fun, one-off drafts :)
Long time patreon supporter here. The picture is has a slightly out of focus feeling even on 1080p. I've noticed the same issue in previous Crack-A-Packs too.
I was lucky to open one convention edition Mystery Booster. A guy at my LGS gave it to me for free, I pulled Elesh Norn which went straight into my Ghired Deck.
@@InsertCleverNameHere0 I wouldn't doubt that Gravecrawler's price has gone up, but a quick search for both cards puts their prices eerily close to those ascribed to each other.
Man, this looks like fun, but the booster boxes are so expensive... but the playtest cards are so "valuable"... but I'd want to keep all the cards to use as a pseudo-cube... but I don't have enough friends to play draft...
So they didn't print start // fire... So... We didn't start the fire It was always burning, since the world was turning. We didn't start the fire No, we didn't light it, but we tried to print it
