Well, that was pretty intense..!... And so nice of the jungle to lay down a smooth pathway for the friendly neighborhood hitch-a-ride robot to glide along. 😁
It's cool that the woman was a tree-climbing computer expert and, looking back, a surprising number of such role-models were in our Gen-X childhood, but they were possibly presented in a more matter-of-fact and less 'look how inclusive our show is' kind of way.
@@dtz1000 all kinds of politics were more subtle then and story telling was sort of a neutral territory in which they each had to be careful lest they provoke each other.
Where did Dr. Strange get all the supplies and equipment to supply the Island? It seems strange that the Island has such smooth ground for the robot. I would think there would be sand and debris to block the robot's smooth movement.
Yeah, and how was he generating power? And how did they keep the robot charged? And why exactly did a guy with so much advanced tech, of his own design, need a robot to achieve world domination? Nothing about this show made any sense, at all.
1977- Henry Corden debuting as 2nd voice of Fred Flintstone, succeeding Alan Reed. Henry's Fred was gruff and folksy with Canadian rasp(he was originally from Montreal, Quebec in Canada, same as Peter Cullen)- he created his own Fred Flintstone, based on Jackie Gleason, rather than attempt to mimic Alan Reed. Nowadays, Jeff Bergman is Fred!!!
All these science masterminds...yet they cant figure out that using their genius to build a multi-billion dollar electronics empire would be far more feasible than 'world dominion.' Or perhaps, its the same thing.
the robot from lost in space and marvel comic Doctor strange . i guess they were look ing for a job from the back in the seventies .Hanna-Barbera , 1978 with mystery island
I quite like that 70s re-deco and, since Robot was restored, no lasting harm was done. :P I'm also amused that, unlike C3PO, POPS has no qualms about impersonating a deity. :)
Yep, as previously mentioned, that Henry Corden who took over for Alan Reed as Fred Flintstone during the later cartoons and cereal ads. Of course, that's not him as the actor so my guess they dubbed him because his real voice wasn't a good fit or the guy couldn't sound convincing.
Thanks for sharing this. I remember watching this as a kid. But I notice so far you seem to have downloaded episodes 1, 5, 6 and 8. What happened to 2, 3, 4, and 7?
@@Jeffrey-ml3mf Henry Corden, who was the second voice of Fred Flintstone, voiced Krieg in this show (the guy in the bandleader's tunic and with the "detector" on his arm), not Dr. Strange.
This Dr Strange can design and build all this advanced technology that he has on the Island but he needs the robot called Pops to make it all complete? Ok? They really messed up the great "Lost In Space" robot to make this cheesy looking robot. Thankfully it was all able to be restored back to the classic B9. The genius who did all the modifications should have been fired. LOL
I was about to say that would explain the sound of a kookaburra, but I recently heard exactly the same sound watching an episode of Magnum PI, so I think it's just 'generic exotic bird call' in old TV sound design. ;)
@@3dartistguy The one at the museum was the "stunt" robot created for the third season of Lost In Space. It was a lightweight cheaper built version made to be abused on the show. The hero robot which was used on this show was eventually restored but unfortunately is only about 50% original today. It now belongs to a private collector.
Most useless robot ever. I remember watching this when it was first on the air and I was always disappointed that the robot never actually did anything other than make snide comments and serve as a vehicle for the brother and sister. I don't recall it ever picking anything up or doing much other than just standing around. Such a downgrade from B9.
i could've know it better if wwe didn't ruin wrestling on turner again already cause of that boomerang logo for there fetish with fox and jedda goodness though
Holy Wow! Was this show sponsored by Velveeta? And why does an uber intelligent mad scientist that is capable of producing so much tech need a modified B9 robot? This has to be the dumbest show ever!
