Some great machining content and thoughts in this video. And some good thought provoking as well. My thoughts.... faced with the same things I feel like the bump at the end of the thread on the grinder spindle could have been taken down with a fine slip stone. Especially if the parallel portion behind the end of the thread was the better diameter and if it was running with next to zero runout. Better to remove the offending "bump" than to open up the whole counter bore. Especially when it was such a small amount. The other thing was that it was likely the tap that caused the small runout of the exterior if it was not the collet. To counter that I would say that starting out with the counter bore being a few thou too small and letting the tap thread in through it would have caused it to self center and might result in a more aligned thread to the OD. Or not.... It's a guess. But one that I would like to try. And then following the threading operation clean out the counter bore to bring it to a very slight oversize match to the neck of the spindle stud. But in the end it ran smooth and that's the key thing. Already looking forward to the next part.

Dean i have been thinking which is dangerous , could you put a abor in the chuck with grinding stone on it and grind in your spinal using the cross side and compound. I believe they have to rotate in opposite directions like a crank grinder. Kit from down under

You may won't to do the bore first. Then tern it between centers to get rid of out of round problem. Then do the step down and thered last. Just something to think about
