I'm looking at this system for bivy type fly fishing trips although the pack isn't set up for rod tubes everything is there to secure them, glad to see the color isn't as bright as I thought it would be. there has to be an easier strap system for the day pack just to hold fishing gear for a day. Thanks for taking the time to make this video Mike. It's always helpful to see someone give an overview like this. After viewing this, it looks to be a bit impractical to switch between the main pack and the lid pack. Having to readjust for proper torso length on the main pack every time it is switched would get old. The idea of the lid pack is great though. I could imagine someone using it as a summit pack, while leaving the main pack behind at a base camp. My MR Metcalf came with a pair of simple nylon straps that I clip on to the lid and use as shoulder straps in a similar fashion.
I store everything inside of my pack. I pack the pack so I have even weight distribution with what I have in there at the time. Do you have a problem with weight distribution with a tent inside the pack? Where do you put your tent?
@@teeronecapone8520 I hope you enjoy the pack. Do you pack your tent with the poles inside the stuff sack with the tent? If you separate them they are usually easier to pack and you can save space by the separation. The tent can lay sideways or just get squished down in the pack and the poles can slide down along the inside of the pack making weight distribution pretty easy. Let me know how you like the pack.
Trying to decide on a good AT thru hike pack and would like to stick with mystery ranch. I'm torn between the ravine, sphinx or the storm 62 would appreciate your opinion. Thanks!
Actually I returned it for the Atmos 65 AG. It's a tad bit lighter, has more features, better suspension system, cheaper, and you can't beat the Osprey warranty.
Hey Nicholas, Thank you for watching. I do agree the Osprey Warranty is the best in the industry. I hope the Atmos AG works for you. I always like it when gear and the body fit together. I had an Atmos AG and did not find it very comfortable. The hip belt did not "float" like I had hoped with a name like Anti-Gravity. The should straps always seemed to have a funny pull and was never happy with it. I hope it works for you. Please let me know what you think of it. HAPPY TRAILS MIKE

Good looking pack! I'm bummed though that Mystery Ranch only offers it in two colors, neither of which appeals to me. Maybe I'll go with a Glacier instead.
