We need to remember that space exploration was on a very back burner before Elon took on the task of getting us interested once again. He did the same for electric vehicles. We knew that we must quit fossil fuels, but no one was doing much to end the use of oil. While Elon does some things from time to time that annoy us, we shouldn't lose sight of what he has done to benefit us.

this is 100% alien. According to my scientific knowledge, Butch, while investigating, will be attacked by a facehugger. Suni will refuse to let him get back to the ISS but the humanoïd on the ISS will let the door open. sooo... in the end, Suni will be the only survivor because she will use the flame thrower and come back to earth in the almost derelict Starliner.

A possibility would be acoustic feedback, from the speaker to a microphone in the vicinity, that is being suppressed by automatic gain control such that it quenches the feedback then lets the gain rise again till the feedback causes another burst that it quenches again and so on.

Puzzling that the beat interval was about the same as a human heart in a resting individual. And the intervals, though mostly consistent, were not totally so, like a human who, though resting, momentarily made some movement placing a slight demand on the heart. So I would think they ought to check the biosensors they will be wearing.
