I love how every Joel hates editor Joel, but Joel's editing is literally the funniest thing and always makes me laugh.

I love that I know in my heart everyone collectively said “Etho” when he asked what should the shrine be of.

That mania comment on reddit really just added fuel to the fire. Every video since then feels like it's been Joel going, "mania? You thought "that" was mania? Hold my beer." Needless to say, I am absolutely here for it.

I've seen Grian first, but again, the sudden sound of Joel's paper complaint sizzling in the lava was by far the hardest I burst out laughing in a long time. GOLDEN

If Joel really wants to avoid building a shrine to Etho to better hide his obsession, then I have few suggestions: -Glow squid shrine since he spent so long getting a decorative permit for it and he already has an adorable glow squid at his shop -Axolotl shrine for when he hopefully gets the blue variant -Horse shrine to pay for his sins against horses -Etho shrine

You know, Joel, you could get some custom designs to be made into signs that actually look like graffiti! You'll have to talk to Grian about it, cause he's the one with the best knowledge on custom paintings (see his mending meditation room for more details), but I think it would look extremely cool!

I love the idea that the permit office is just super easy to work with on April Fool's Day specifically and no time else.

I’ve seen a few artists draw you as a tanuki, also known as Japanese raccoon dogs. These little creatures are mischievous shapeshifters and statues of them are used to bring wealth and fortune afaik. I think a tanuki statue would be great for the shrine!

I feel like the position Joel built his cyberpunk and more traditional buildings is accurate. The top of the hill would have been the heart and start of the settlement, and thus would have and be ever changing, leaving the outer areas to fall behind and stay traditional rather than cyberpunky. The way other people have described also works, but I just prefer this as it feels more alive and as if it has been there for generations :) ALSO I AM LOVING THIS STYLE SM- I genuinely can't predict the general shape you are going for and I am honestly learning new ways that shapes can be created :D

The fact that Joel and Etho have such a comical relationship is really cute and hilarious

I know you said no etho shrine, but an etho shrine would be hilarious and it is something I think we all need. Please eefo shrine. (Either that or horse shrine to make bdubs happy, or if you want to really annoy him, a dead horse shrine).

The mysterious giftbox was something issued by the "Mission Possible" pedestal in front of the Hermitcraft monolith. In the spirit of the challenge I implore all readers not to reveal who gave the giftbox, though it also doesn't need to be that big of a secret. Depends how invested you are to finding out, Joel.

Seriously i am just SO OBSESSED with how Joel is expanding the mountain’s terrain, raising the ground level to look over the cyberpunk city, and using the traditional style on the bottom with the futuristic on the top. I love it!

i know in out heart of hearts we all said etho for the shrine, but lets be real: this is the ocean theme season. it should be ocean queen lizzie, so he has a shrine of his wife to rizz

Shrine of THE horses. Horse heads remain as offerings to bring back the great horse. (Whatever that is) May seem kinda boring, but atleast you would also have a place to store horse heads.

Grian and Mumbo have always been the only hermits that I will ALWAYS watch, and get excited the second I see the thumbnail. Now Joel and Gem have joined that list.

We truly are blessed to live in the reality where Etho and Joel got paired up in double life

The city centre Rotterdam was bombed in WW2. Therefore, the centre is completely modern while the outskirts contain older traditional buildings. A modern core with old buildings around is therefore perfectly possible in a dystopian build. All you need is some gruesome war lore. Otherwise, they could have bulldozed the temple to build commercial stuff (and only left the tori gate and and a bit of the garden down below for tourists).

You could do Kakashi in the temple! He’s got ties to both Japan and Minecraft so I think that’d work really well

Idk if anyone else has said this yet, but having the old parts of the city on the outside and the new parts inside actually does make sense with Japan’s history. In WWII 70% of Tokyo was burned to the ground after a series of bombings from the Americans and fires that followed afterwards. Tokyo had to build from the ground up quickly and this is why its architecture is so modern and high tech while most of the older buildings are on the outskirts. It would probably look more like Kyoto today if the bombings and fires didn’t happen. Also I’m so excited to see what you come up with after your trip to Japan! Ik they’re gonna be AMAZING

Joel, the command is “/trigger custom_model_data 1”. I know from the S9 world download. You have to have a specific item in your hand for it to give the permit though. (For permits, it is paper). If that does not work, change the 1 to some other positive number. It’ll work at some point.
