Working with the borderless deck over the past 6 weeks or so, I found it has quite a different energy than the original deck with the decorative borders. You may not want to trim this one!

I had this deck (the one with the borders) for many years, it is so precious to me that I never used it (I am more a collector than a reader) but always wanted to... I have a beautiful story about it... Once I went to Glastonbury I am from Portugal, and I was in a shop full of amazing fairies, statues, post cards, gifts and I noticed they were the same on the deck... only minutes later I realised that it was Linda's store, in the corner of the shop there was a lady dressed up in a way that I though she was a fairy in person ehehe... Actualy it was Linda and I bought a post card for her to sign and I have it on the book till this day... She wrote me "Shine Brightly" She told me that she always writes the same because the more we shine, greater the energy of light in the world... something like this but I always try to remeber this... I finaly ordered the borderless deck so that I can use the deck hahaha XD

I love this deck and I love your reading at the end! Thanks for comparing them side by side. I usually love borders as they feel like they add context, but I can’t get over how much better the borderless colouring is!! Thanks for sharing ♥️

I worked with both decks for a while after making the video. There is a "rawer" energy in Tarot of the Sidhe, which has given heartfelt readings for me. Over time I will likely visit that deck again, the stories told through the minors are well done. All the best Kitty Kat, Sadhana 💙

I can't tell on Amazon which deck is which! I want the borderless and the little white book, but they seem to be mixed up..... So I've contacted Llewellyn customer service because they always answer questions and are super helpful, and I'll order it from them. I'm glad I watched this review because otherwise I wouldn't have known that the cardstock on the borderless was glossy. I (suddenly, lol?) find myself in the minority of people who like glossy cardstock! I learned on a glossy deck 40 years ago, and matte just doesn't activate my intuition :))

It's Amazon US, and they are showing the decks kind of backwards (?) -- like, the bordered cards with the small white book. I appreciate any advice :)

@@kyleliz1671 you are correct. Borderless cards with large book and bordered cards with LWB seems the only option right now.

Thanks for sharing. Did you make a follow-up video after working with the bordered version? And i was wondering how the energies of these 2 compared with the Tarot of the Hidden Realm but I see the link and will watch that next.

There is no comparison between Tarot of the Hidden Realm and Mystic Faerie Tarot. Very different energy.

The only thing about the borders version that creeps the f out of me is the two faces at the borders. I don't know why but it creeps me so much, otherwise I love the borders and the details of the borders

The border cards seem more muted. Like you are actually looking through a window. It feels removed. The borderless are more direct.

To each their own, but I happen to like the original over the borderless. I've read professionally for twenty years, and I was hardly bothered by borders on cards. Someone pointed out to me that the white borders can be useful for writing small notes, or keywords. I think this borderless trend began with one person's opinion and spiraled from there.

Artwork has always been "framed" so why not frame the art in tarot decks? This is a conversation in the tarot community with vastly divergent opinions. Those faeries however, require a frame! Are you by any chance a Harry Potter fan? This reminds me of a scene where the naughty pixies are released from their cages - and the process of putting them back in is quite arduous. I've had this experience with other decks where borders support a "contained" energy. I really appreciate you adding your bit to the discussion. Thanks Pillar.

I’m so in love with the gold boarder version. I just didn’t jive with the boarderless one at all. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I love a matte finish and super glossy stock bugs me. 😂

So I know this video is a few years old but I ran across it today. I found the bordered version of the deck at a flea market about a year ago. It was just the cards in a bag and Ive not really worked with them and I was searching to see if I could find a guidebook when I saw this video. I just want to say that the colors of my bordered deck are like the ones in your borderless version, they do not have the yellow cast that your bordered deck does. I went and grabbed my deck to compare. lol. I have no idea when this deck may have been printed but id say you are right and it looks like something was off a bit off during the printing run of your deck. Im curious to see how the faeries talk to me 🙂

Do you know that scene in Harry Potter where Lockheart lets the blue pixie's out of the cage? Well that's how the borderless deck feels sometimes. Saying that though, I feel my relationship with the deck is not so challenging these days. If the reader or querent is uptight or flustered or anything but grounded, I feel the borderless deck has the potential to behave like the blue pixies ;)
