The reasons they broke up: They met as teens. As they matured, their personal creativity took off in different directions. Look at their post-Beatles music. Each was allowed to shine without being overshadowed by the others. Their manager, Brian E., had passed away and they couldn't agree on how to proceed forward in this regard (money and management issues). It's not that hard to understand. Fans, however, had a hard time facing this, and Yoko was an easy target.

I have been a Beatles fan for 59 years. Just typing that feels weird. I was 10 when they appeared on Ed Sullivan and had heard of them just before that. I know all of those rumors and even bought into the Yoko Ono bit for a little while, but listening to what Paul was saying made me disbelieve that one pretty quickly. My first reaction to 'Paul is Dead' was 'Well, they sure found one talented M...F to replace him!' Not bloody likely. I saw the Butcher Cover when it first came out and it shocked me. I still believe today that the Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds had two meanings -- not that I have any personal 'Experience' (thank you, Jimi) with that, but there is far too much coincidence there. John also said that 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' had nothing to do with the Heroin he was doing at the time... uh-huh. John contradicted himself regularly. None of these takes anything away from what I feel about them. They were truly the soundtrack of my life. They still are. If I was allowed only one band's music while stuck on a deserted Island there would be no contest.

In 1964, at 17, I was blessed to meet them all, with Brian Epstein, and see them twice live on their 64 US tour (you can Google me about it). I became a huge fan on release of their 1st album in Dec., 1963, and after meeting them, became a working drummer for 30+ years. I've followed them avidly and have met several of their British Invasion contemporaries. I lived in Liverpool near the Penny Lane roundabout for several months in 2001/2002. This video has the facts rock solid. (I've been one of your most loyal followers while you Kept Good Movies Alive, and one of your harshest critics when you venture off into political areas and myths, legends & weird or dark stories, but such is life. I'm glad you're still doing at least an occasional music related video, especially a Beatles-related one. I know YT hassles can make your life miserable, but I'm with you when you do stuff like this. 👍👌)

Many of these were familiar to me. The "Paul Is Dead" rumor is a familiar part of Beatles lore, and by the time I first heard it, everyone knew that it was a hoax. I had heard it speculated that Pete Best was kicked out of the Beatles because he got all the girls, and heard different explanations for why he was fired, but they all refute the idea that it was because he got the girls, and they all boil down to it was because he wasn't a great drummer. I knew about the baby butcher cover being a protest to how the US versions of Beatles albums butchered the UK originals, but this was the first I had heard that it had anything to do with Vietnam. I never bought the idea that Yoko broke up the Beatles, because my view is that regardless of the influence Yoko had over John, it ultimately was his decision about whether to leave the band.

Here is some interesting stuff about The Beatles. If this doesn't blow your mind, you have no mind to blow. On April 4, 1964, the Beatles held the top 5 spots on the Billboard Hot 100. 1) Can't Buy Me Love, 2) Twist & Shout, 3) She Loves You, 4) I Wanna Hold Your Hand, 5) Please Please Me. The next week, they still had the #1 song (can't Buy Me Love) but, "only" held 3 spots in the top 5, and 2 more in the next 5, so they had 5 songs in the top 10. But ALSO....they added "I Saw Her Standin There" at #38, "You Can't Do That" #48, "All My Lovin'" #56, "From Me To You" #52, " Thank You Girl" #61, " There's A Place" #74, "Roll Over Beethoven" #78, " Love Me Do" #81. So that is 13 songs in the top 100. The week before they had the #1, 2, 3, 4,and 5. I was in 7th grade. Then, they began to release albums. EVERY album they released reached #1 somewhere in the world. 1963 "Please Please Me #1 UK. 1964 "Hard Day's Night" #1 UK, Ger, Aus. 1965 "Help!" #1 UK, Aus, Ger. 1966 "Rubber Soul" #1 UK, Aus, Ger. 1967 "Revolver" #1 UK, Aus, Ger. 1968 "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" #1 UK, Aus, Ger, Can, Fra, Nor, USA. 1968 "White Album" #1 UK, Aus, Ger, Can, Fra, Nor, USA. 1969 "Yellow Submarine" #1 Nor, #2 USA. 1969 "Abbey Road" #1 UK, Aus, Fra, Can, Ger, Nor, USA. 1970 "Let It Be" #1 UK, Aus, Can, Nor, USA. NO ONE EVER ANY WHERE AT ANY TIME UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES could come within light years from what the Beatles accomplished music-wise. I didn't even count their #1 hit singles after April 11, 1964, but instead just listed their albums. I listed 10. And every one of those albums reached #1 in some country. Some albums, as the Beatles really caught on, were #1 in 6 or 7 countries worldwide. Another little factoid: The Beatles had the MOST #1 hits of all time with 20. A hit song every 5 months or so...for 8 years. Doesn't sound like much...until you go to #2, and find the Supremes had 6. They began releasing recorded music in 1963. They, as a group, stopped recording in 1970. 8 years. THEN..George Harrison had a few hits , a huge concert, coupla #1s. Paul McCartney still is playing 53 years after the Beatles stopped. Ringo is still playing. John Lennon, just before he was murdered, released an album "Double Fantasy" one of my all time favorites. What a group of talent. In one spot. What they did ....wow. The Beatles broke up because there was so much talent there, and there wasn't enough "facetime" to go around. They started getting uncomfortable with one another. Who writes? Who sings? Who shares? Who has a girlfriend? who has a wife? Can you imagine the workload these guys had? Who broke up the Beatles? That's easy. The Beatles broke up the Beatles. Paul and John were playing mind games with one another. When it happened George was fine with it. He had some music that had been suppressed for so long. Ringo was fine with it as well. Mercy, Ringo played with EVERYBODY!! There was no one to blame.

I think the only myth that they missed was "Paul did a lot of the drumming on later Beatle records". Paul himself denied it in a 1980 interview with Musician magazine that was issued as an album by Columbia Records. He played on a few White Album tracks during the period when Ringo walked out of the band, and he also played on The Ballad Of John & Yoko (which was just him and John playing all the instruments between themselves), but Ringo did the vast majority of drum tracks himself.

I know you're having trouble with blocked music videos but there's a few fun RU-vid videos out there with The Dark Side of the Moon + Wizard of Oz synced up that might be good for this channel. There's an urban legend that if you start the Pink Floyd album with the Wizard of Oz at the right time, they sync up in really interesting ways. Like the tornado scene is during the song "The Great Gig in the Sky", etc. The band completely denies there's a connection, but it's really fun to watch.

Cynthia Lennon's memoir noted issues with Pete's drumming, but also she observed that Pete didn't really gel with the band and couldn't keep up with their repartee, and John viewed having the right combination of personalities as essential to their success. I would say that the Beatles got huge just as much because of personality as the music itself, so Pete's not fitting it was definitely a factor, and it was frankly the right decision.

I’ve heard all of this as an avid Beatles fan, but that sad thing is so many people believe these myths to this day and convince themselves that they’re true, which many sources have proved they aren’t. Repeatedly, even using Paul’s vocals before and after people thought he died, and they’re identical in his trademark style of being flat and sharp, which another human could not reproduce. It would be impossible.

I’m a BIG Beatles fan and I’ve heard about all of them. I NEVER believed the myth about Paul being dead. I thought, then and now, that it’s ridiculous. PID people really irritate me. You would think that they would have moved on by now, seeing as how the person who originated the rumor has admitted that he made the whole thing up. Actually, at the time, I thought that it might be fun to contribute to the myth by coming up with more references to his death after listening to certain songs on several albums, but I realized how crazy some people were getting, so I refrained from adding more fuel to the fire. I’m glad I did. I can’t believe that there are people who still believe that nonsense after all these years. Smh.

@MsAppassionata. I feel EXACTLY like YOU do about these people that STILL believe the "Paul Is Dead" thing after decades. It's ridiculous! They show up on a lot of the comments under Beatle and McCartney reactions! It REALLY IRRITATES me TOO!! ENOUGH already. It always cracks me up when they talk about a "clone" A true clone doesn't create an automatic adult, it has to grow and mature like a biological baby does. Do they REALLY think that IF he had been killed and replaced that EVERYONE around McCartney, the other Beatles, HIS FAMILY (and McCartney has a HUGE EXTENDED FAMILY) friends, business associates, other musicians who are friends, etc would have been able to keep it quiet after THIS many YEARS?! Get REAL will you. Not to mention that he would look, sound, sing, play, compose great songs, just like Paul did. PAUL has been MY FAVORITE BEATLE since I first laid eyes on him on the cover of the U.S. "MEET THE BEATLES " album and after seeing him live on the ED SULLIVAN SHOW I KNOW PAUL when I see him after nearly 60 years now. I wouldn't be surprised if a PID believer made a comment somewhere here on this video.

1) myth is Paul was replaced by a "look a like" named Billy Shears. And this seemed to be perpetuated by the first track of Sgt. Pepper. George and John's first LSD trip was given to them unknowingly. The group was offered $5K in 1975 to appear on SNL, but they all declined. But there is a great version of Here Comes the Sun with George and Paul Simon on SNL!

In the documentary on The Beatles, you can clearly see Paul's girlfriend and George's wife in the studio. So it wasn't just Yoko who was allowed in, but the documentary Let It Be cut out all that footage. It was Paul who officially broke up The Beatles, setting his lawyer on to the legal business. Apparently they didn't have much money when the band split up, for all their huge success. Yoko's father was a financier, and he set about turning John's share into much more.

About the "Paul is Dead" replacement - think about this logically: The replacement would have not only look like him, walk like him, talk like him - BUT - know how to play bass, drums, and guitar, would have to be a genius song writer and versatile singer to match the "original" McCartney's diverse range. He would also have to get along with everyone and build new friendships fast as a stranger with people involved with The Beatles (including the entire music industry). Then he must be able to take this genius talent and produce with "Beatle" qualities for the next 50+ years. It's laughable anyone would think Macca can be replaced lol

Much like Grand Funk Don Brewer was the one behind the 1976 break up, his ego couldn't handle Mark Farner, the writer of 92% of their material. The other 3 formed Flint, using several guest guitarists. While Mark started his highly successful & 2 critically acclaimed solo LP's. Flint was signed for 2 LP's wifh Columbia. They had the 2nd lp recorded & Columbia said thx but no thx. Farner & Brewer regrouped initially with Mel, but he'd developed a fear of flying, with the 100's of thousands of miles if not a million, they'd had several very close calls. There was also some who thought he had issues with the current manager. Grand Funk recorded a song included in the Heavy Metal cartoon but it wasn't in the movie, it was on the LP or CD. Queen bee. I had bought both of their 82-83 LP's Grand Funk lives & What's Funk, but with the music business in flux they disbanded. Farner put out 3 Christian Rock CD's coming in 2nd to Amy Grant for a Dove award with the song 'Isnt it amazing (what a prayer can do) my Montra while fighting Stage 3 Melanoma & 6 injections a week for a year of Interferon that I injected dropping from 175 pounds of mostly muscle working on construction sites in the Phoenix East Valley. The original members got together in 97 toured fully in 98 or 99 & were one of the top 100 grossing tours that year, unheard of with bands 30 years after their first LP. They did 3 stops for the kids in Bosnia with each City's pop orchestra with Paul Shafer of David Letterman's band as conductor in New York, Detroit & L.A.'s Greek theater, My first time seeing the full band. They started with the original 3 members for 45 minutes, Then the orchestra did small pieces of popular Grand Funk songs ending with an Oboe playing 'Mean mistreater then the lights came on Mark in a full tux & tails at a grand piano, once the part where the song builds the best of the band with Ricky Farner on rhythm guitar, Mark's brother, a keyboard player & the horn section from Bob Seger's band, as well the full orchestra doing Bad time, To get back in, Loneliness & Closer to home all with the full orchestra. I had goosebumps on my goosebumps! The air in the outside amphitheater was full of that funky smell in the air, but damnit not close enough to me! Lol! Right in front of my sister & her Cop husband though neither cared. I'd seen Mark in his solo band & he always played a mix of Grand Funk & what he called Godrock. Don caught Mark after a big party & told him he needed to sign his ownership of the trademark for an umbrella protection. With Don being an old highschool buddy Mark trusted him. Mark had agreed to not play any solo acts for 2 years, he gave them 3 years & promised to play any gigs they had. But Don & Mel kicked Mark out of the Corporation taking away his voting rights. Slapping an injunction enforcing ridiculous restrictions on Mark performing mostly his songs. As the song writer he could've stopped them from performing them, but that's not who Mark Farner is. He's told them he's forgiven them & told them they need to play for the huge # of Grand Funk fans out there. They dropped Railroad after they found out their first manager & promoter Terry Knight had stolen millions from the band. Mark had told him he forgave him, a year before he was stabbed to death by his daughter's older drug addicted boyfriend. She owns the publishing rights to their first 6 albums where several every song was written by Mark Farner. Mar Farner has James Brown's last drummer Hubert H bomb Crawford, since the late 80's Mark's always had a brother on bass also, which if you ask me they've added to the Funk & Soul that Mark's always had & knowing the man's heart he doesn't see color he hears talent & has had most band members stay as long as possible. His first bass player who I know but right now I can't remember his damn name, he played close to 2 decades until he got his medical degree. Though he's done several of Mark's acoustic sets. He met Paul the current brother from Detroit while working on Alice Cooper's LP or CD to celebrate Detroit. Flint's a suburb but Detroit's always taken Mark as their own. Ask Led zeppelin too chicken shit to allow Grand Funk to play the full set before them. Grand Funk did 2 shows as their opening act Cleveland & Detroit they stopped them short in both in Detroit the fans rioted & Zeppelin played for a 3rd of the original crowd 90 minutes after they cut the power on Grand Funk. The Detroit fans were pissed! Mark goes out now as Mark American band everything used is American made. He's offered at any point to tour with the original members, but they prefer to be frauds. They turned down a guaranteed 20 million dollars! Don's poor ego just couldn't handle it. Mel's a follower & does what Don says. I've heard Faux Funk with my ex-wife & a former drummer & wife, I'd played with him years with 2 separate bands. Once they started a falsetto version of Closer to home which I sang in every band I've ever been with. W/0 a word spoken we all got up, folded the blanket we'd been sitting on & headed for the exit. The $2 each we spent wasn't worth it. Mark's still singing at 75-76 in the original keys & still rocking the house & I love the band with him. Lawrence Buckner was his first bass player Paul is now he's 6'3 with the voice of an angel as Mark says, all 4 including his keyboard player sing. He recently released a live CD From Chile with love, Available on Mark Farner.vom for $14.99 with $3 from each CD goes to Veterans supporting Veterans a cause Mark has always supported . Vietnam vets voted Closer to home as the song they loved and helped them thru dark times in Nam During the 25th anniversary of the Wall they filled out a questionnaire & Closer to home won by a landslide. They asked Mark to sing if, he at his own expense flew his entire band & gave a full set including Closer to home. Mark says it was tough to get through as there were very few dry eyes in the crowd. Mark prayed for the song, asking God for a song that'd reach out & touch the hearts of those God felt needed it most. Mark write the lyrics at 3 AM half awake,the words just came to him. As he sat at the table drinking his coffee the intro & chords Just came to him, at that point he remembered writing the words & bingo the song was born. While playing it on a show in Cleveland, the shows band leader asked Mark what was that song, after learning he told Mark to stretch out the end, and once they felt like they should end keep going, cuz he was hearing a flute, strings & a French horn. Mark was pissed that Capital didn't give Tommy credit, I'm pretty sure he got credit on Loneliness a song well ahead of it's time. I know you're a big Funk fan, I'm a bigger fan and played & sang close to 15 of their songs live, the dance floor was always full. My 6 year old after hearing Mark sing about 3 or 4 songs, turned to me & said "Dad he sings like you!" I wish son. Lol!

About Pete Best. And as a lesson to have your business priorities straight. - in 1994, the Beatles released their “Anthology” box set which was full of never used demos, out-takes and B-sides, the band members were going “Pete's on some of them, we should get him involved.” And thus Best was contacted, told what was going to happen, asked to sign a contract with the company, which allowed them to use his likeness and music. Which made Pete Best a millionaire overnight, because of the royalties he received from the sales of the box set. Safe to say, Pete Best has no problem with his association to the band.

In some cases these stories are a small part of a bigger truth, or true but not as consequential as they are made to seem. I’m 65 and followed the Beatles from day one until now. Paul’s alive, Pete was a lousy drummer, Yoko was not really welcome but Paul had Linda and his daughter in the studio as well. The Beatles broke up because the myth got suffocating mostly to John and George.

The scenarios he created in Lucy in The Sky With Diamonds was very "Alice in Wonderland" fanciful people and landscapes. So you think that every person that ever wrote or created an unreal scape was on drugs? How many friends of yours at 15 or 16 are still in your life when you are 30? Remarkable they lasted as long as they did. People say 'what about the Stones?' but they are mostly separate, getting together occasionally for records or tours
@patticrichton1135
@patticrichton1135 Год назад
Yes, and the Stones had no problem with replacing members, like after Brian Jones drowned, and Bill Wyman quit the group. The Beatles would NEVER have done that. If one of them died or left, there would have been NO other replacement brought in, the group would be over. It just wouldn't be the Beatles, not to us fans and they have said that themselves.

One myth that is not: the girls screaming at the top of their lungs at the beatles airport arrival, were compensated to do so. Media crafted hysteria by someone who believes the primal urge to protect (a young girl) is stirred by the those screams. A beatles fan will get very 'protective' when their babies are slandered.

It wasn't their debut on the day JFK was assassinated, It WAS the day that the UK album "WITH THE BEATLES" was released. The U.S. album "MEET THE BEATLES" was released on Jan. 20, 1964 (that is when I bought mine) and their first single in the U.S. "I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND" was released on Dec, 26, 1963, I woke up to it on my clock radio the day after Christmas. Their debut live in the U.S. was on Sunday Feb.9th, 1964 on The ED SULLIVAN SHOW, they landed in the U.S. on Friday Feb. 7th, 1964 at JFK airport. Jack Paar DID show a film of them performing a song from 1963 from England on his late night show, before the Ed Sullivan Show. But again, it was only a film, the Beatles were NOT here, it was not live so they really don't count that as a "debut" I didn't even see that one until it surfaced much later.

Yeah I don't believe Lennon's BS about Lucy in the Sky with Diamond either. @patticrichton1135
@patticrichton1135 Год назад
Explain the actual drawing that Julian did, it's on the internet and I have seen it. John was also a fan of Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass both by Lewis Carroll. He loved Carroll's style of writing and the fanciful characters, creatures and landscapes the he created. You don't need drugs to create something that is "not real" Geez, people. I guess every fairy tale and futuristic movie, science fiction film or books was written by authors drugged up because they couldn't POSSIBLE come up with them just with their imagination! Do you have children? Did they ever draw? I still have some of my childhood drawings, as well as my sons (who are in their mid 40s and one just turned 50. The people we drew as a young child of 4 were always floating in the middle of the paper, not at the bottom where the ground should be. Ours had a blue stripe at the top of the paper drawn with a blue crayon that represented the sky. Children's drawings are very fanciful, so does that mean THEY were also on LSD. I don't understand WHY people like you think that the Beatles are big liars! It's not like it was a secret that they took drugs, not everything they did was inspired by it.

I grew up with the Beatles. The Beatles themselves pushed the rumors of Paul being dead. There are so many I can't remember them all but one is the Abbey Road Cover. John leads all dressed in white, representing God and Heaven. Next comes Ringo dressed in an antique Undertaker's suit. Next is Paul in a plain blue suit and barefooted just like they bury Dead Folks. And finally George, all dressed in denim with work boots on representing the Grave Digger. There's a RU-vid video from way back and this guide takes a few people by Paul McCartney's boyhood home, the caretaker comes out and he is the Spitting Image of an Older Paul, even talks like him. Another video shows George, Ringo and Paul talking around a table, Johns in the background, they're telling Paul an old story, George tells Paul "this was before you joined the band". George even later called Paul False Paul on several interviews. There's so many more clues out there. Remember, the Truth is stranger than Fiction. Remember Trump colluded with Russia! Lol 😂!!!
@frauleinmona
@frauleinmona Год назад
That's something else! I read that John being in white meant he was the clergyman. Ringo in his black suit meant he was the undertaker. George in his boots and jeans meant he was the grave digger. And Paul was the only one barefoot and he represented the dead body. One reason being that people in different cultures used to be buried without their shoes. He also stands out because he's the only one who's out of step and holding a cigarette. And the license plate number on the Beetle in the back round reads, "LMW 28IF". Apparently that was supposed to stand for, "Linda McCartney Weeps" and the "28IF" meant that Paul would have been 28 years old IF he would have survived. It's amazing how all of it seems to come together! HA! No pun intended! 😂
@dougjohnson4066

@@frauleinmona You got it. Like I said I grew up putting the clues together during this time. The Beatles album sales sky rocketed. There are lots of clues during this time and I don't remember them all, but one I do remember is Sgt Pepper's album. If you remember they announce the singer of the band is "the one and only Billy Shears" and then of course Ringo sings, a voice Beatle fans weren't really familiar with. In actuality, Billy Shears had won a look alike contest for Paul. If you Google Billy Shears now it defines him as Ringo Starr but the real Billy was a studio musican who was also left handed and looked exactly like Paul. The real Paul never died, that was just rumored however during the first years of constantly doing live concerts and just having to deal with the fame, Paul just wanted out. 🤔😂🤔✌️

@@dougjohnson4066 That is SO awesome. I wasn't born yet so I wasn't lucky enough to be around when all of this was happening. I remember that line from Sgt. Pepper's "The one and only Billy Shears" but I had *no* idea that he was some guy who won a look alike contest for Paul! I truly didn't know that! Yes, Google has Billy Shears as being Ringo. ? I don't get it. Why though? Didn't know that the "Paul is dead" hoax increased sales. But it sounds logical. LOL I have encountered real weirdos here on RU-vid on reaction channels that genuinely believe that Paul McCartney is a clone or a replacement for the "real" Paul McCartney. "My name is Paul McCartney". "MY name is Paul McCartney". " *MY* name is Paul McCartney". "Will the REAL Paul McCartney *please* stand up?".😂
