This video shows how i managed to fix my class 47 Graham Farish loco. The problem identified was the misalignment of the gears on the final drive of the bogey axles. The motor itself runs perfectly but was unable to get the wheels in motion due to a hairline crack in the gears from age not actual usage. A relatively inexpensive gear puller was purchased to assist in the process but apart from that not much more was needed to complete the job. My options were to buy the complete axles with wheels and gears or just buy the gears alone and see what happens. A few other aesthetic items were purchased to bring the loco to look as good as new and in the end all works out well.
Thanks for watching

Good repair and a clear step-by-step explanation. Thanks Craig. Cheers, Jim L (PS Was I the 'man who used the vice' you referred to? Doesn't matter if I'm not. Still good!)

Hi Craig - Wow that looked intense, dont think I could do it. I take my hat off to you sir. Loved watching the trains running, watching your layout made me realise mine is exactly the same. Double track in a figure of eight except mine is in the loft and I have a run of 40'. Plus a terminus on another level as the loft is not very wide. Regards Chris

Hi Craig. When servicing locos with such small parts, put a microfibre cloth (or a teacloth or towel -of the furry kind) down as a mat; any small parts that you drop will be caught by the cloth and not lost. Where on earth to hear about the gear puller? Nice repair. I'm not much of a diesel person, but I must say the Class 47 and its coaches does look smart. I think your Class 08 needs looking at!

Fantastic idea with the microfibre cloth, it's those springs which are the worst. The 08 is the next one to be looked at as it just does not sound right.
