I am a novice N gauge modeler and I am about to embark on an 8ft x 4ft (in old money) layout. This has to be one of the best 12 minuets that I have spent watching a video in a long time....Cheers DaveH.
+David Houghton (Beardyface) Thanks David. It is very good of you to say that. I am sure you would enjoy some of my earlier videos as well. They all start with Leefield & Ashpeth. I wish you luck and enjoyment with your new layout - it is a great hobby! Cheers, Neil.
What an absolutely fantastic layout! I am just beginning my very first layout in n gauge, if it ever turns out half as good as this one i will be over the moon!
+Phil Newman Hi Phil. Thanks for the support! Remember to plan carefully and be patient. Do a lot of research and collect scenic items/buildings before you rush in. It took me 5 years to collect all the buildings for the village of Elnham but I am very pleased with the final results. Cheers, Neil.
+Matthew Snowden Hi Matthew I have been experimenting with a GoPro Session 4 Camera for the line side shots and for some of the close ups. I am pleased, on the whole, with the results, so will be using it again in future videos. Cheers, Neil.
Was in town and I got a notification about the vid and was so excited as love the layout as helps me with ideas as also n gauge modern northern TPExpresss voyager
+Gordon Hill Hi Gordon, There are 118 locos on the layout at the moment, including DMUs, EMU, HSTs, Voyagers, Class 91 sets and a Eurostar. The period is loosely around 2006 to 2008 and the era will be moving forward gradually over the next few months as I have all the necessary stock in the cupboards. Cheers, Neil.
Hi Neil, just been looking through your videos. Well done some really good modelling. One question, what colour paint did you use for your RHTT? Cheers Mark
+Mark Harrison Hi Mark, Sorry for the delay in answering. I have been away on holiday. I did a lot of research into the colour for the RHTT set as the right hue is not easy to find. The wargaming paint 'Citadel' layer in Teclis Blue comes pretty close but the one I chose, as the closest match, is 'Reeves' Fine Artist Acrylic Cerulean Blue. Cheers, Neil.
+Matthew Stamp Hi Matthew, Ashpeth Station is a Kibri plastic kit that I built many years ago. I also needed to anglicise it so it would pass for a British station. I wanted large station buildings at the front of the layout to create the impression of forced perspective as you look across the layout to smaller buildings at the rear. I have been searching for the kit number and I am not sure if it is still available. The nearest I can find is a Faller kit, number 212114. It clearly would need painting though. Cheers, Neil.
HI Johan You need to be a member of The N Gauge Forum first. Sign up on-line and it is free. The kit comes from Shapeways, exclusively for Forum members. It costs just over £100. You send your order number to the Forum and they supply the etches for the guard rails. This is included in the price. You then need a Dapol FEA-B set of wagons which will cost around £28, to mount the kit on. You can purchase the decals from Railtec. It is quite expensive to complete but the only other option is to scratch-build. Cheers, Neil.
+Matthew Stamp Hi Matthew. The Leefield Central Station building (where we went 'train spotting') is another Kibri plastic kit number K37706. Cheers, Neil.
