Hello everyone and welcome back to Malcolm's Way, My name is Matt, so in this video we are starting to take a look at the locos that will be appearing on my model railway, Malcolm's Way. And our first victim is the superb Standard 5MT 73082 Camelot, which is now preserved at the Bluebell Railway.
We add the detail parts and also weather the loco using only three colours from the LifeColor range, sprayed through an airbrush.

How do you go about weathering your locos, I'd love to hear in the comments below!
Lastly I can only apologize for the shocking camera angle on this video and I have found a new position to place the camera for future videos on the workbench

I thought that was a very good video Matt. I didn't mind the hand being in the way as I still got the gist of what you were doing and that way you got to do a good job on the loco. Quite a simple way but very effective and at the end I thought the train looked brilliant. I am in the camp of possible not weathering any of my trains or stock, but that may change further down the line. Regards Chris

Elephant in the room -the Massive Loco/ tender gap, other than that a super model and even better for 'the Malky' treatment

Excellent video, got an airbrush for Xmas, haven't use it yet, but it does scare me a bit, over applying the paint , will have a couple of try outs first on old stock

Get at the bench and enjoy it buddy, if I can do it anyone can:) you'll soon learn at the ratios for the paint and what works for you :) testing out on older stock, using wagons etc is a great way to making a start :) All the best Matt

Hi Matt. I'm still ambivalent about weathering. As you say, your loco looked really beautiful before you started on it. You also 'confessed' to having your hand in the way a number of times (which you will correct in the next video) but you also needed to pause a fraction longer after a particular spraying so the viewers can see the result.

Does the paint cause any issues with the running gear and or wheel pickups? Should you run it immediately after to make sure everything that should move stays that way?
