I like how TOTP audiences clapping along to the song while still being nice and well-behaved at the same time. Very entertaining to watch the contrasts between family-friendly chart shows and real rave party videos.
Living in Australia tracks like this were a staple at raves but I never ever saw them on tv. We didn't get top of the pops and our local equivalents never played anything like this (at least not until a couple of year after this) so it's always weird for me now seeing guys like n-joi, bizarre inc, altern 8 etc being on live tv shows miming songs that commercial music fans never even heard here.
Dead right - they made a similar snide comment after a 2 Unlimited tune charted about 'more lyrics than the last one'. They played it but they definitely didn't get it or like it! Even Dance Energy got turned into a show for Hip Hop.
Every time I watch these things on totp it makes me sad because it marks the death when all that was beautiful about partying became mainstream and died. Big shout to the original only for the headstrong acid heads!!!! You only know if you were there.
I think the rave scene fizzled out when the music became commercialized , i used to go to raves in the late 80s till 1992 .. it was so much different then
You think? You need to do your history. In 1991, to quote just one example, T99 appeared doing Anasthasia and looking uncannily similar to this lot, down to Elliott E'lan on vocals and gyrations just like Saffron, who was obviously watching them. TOTP were always happy to play what was in the charts - maybe you don't know how viewing figures work. If it makes you feel rebellious though, carry on.
No one's allowed to make a joke? Maybe you're the one who's out of touch. The Shadows were playing instrumentals on TOTP in the early 60s - these folk aren't kicking over any barricades.
late reply but this song was actually sampled in 2 game tracks at 1:43 in Sonic CD's Quartz Quadrant Bad Future (JP Version), and in Ratchet and Clank's Umbra Planer
Pff snobby presenter making it clear she hated the song with her 'lyrics' comment... lol I actually think it's great they went on TOTP and just played the song as is, without adding a silly vocalist just to appease the show producers.
@@BuddingBassist93 More like: it's called the clueless BBC not getting dance music - they had some ponce making fun of 2 Unlimited and Capella for the same reason.
La música de N-Joi era avanzada para su tiempo... y llegó el techno!! 1991-1992. / The music of N-Joi was advanced for its time ... and the techno arrived !! 1991-1992.
