If you would like to buy some 12v motors, they are available on my website.
Watchtrainsnow.com
had a couple of non-running engines, I found motors that could work to repair them. Follow along à I experiment to get them going again.

Excellent video. I have just shoved those motors in Atlas chassis before without taking anything apart. Just cut off the other end like you did.. I needed to machine out the frame a little to get them to fit. Thanks for the bonus at the end.

I know you people watching all these type repairs have some EBay gift cards. Don't throw them all the way. I makes me a packrat, but I get things with pieces of plastic look like things I might never find when looking for it.

I was concerned that the motor you are getting the armature from you didn't identify. I have a E-8 that needs the same treatment, but I don't have the brush holders, they were not left with the motor. I have a small lathe, and some brass rod. I should be able to make them. I will get done with a $300 Atlas 40 year or more almost new old stock, right?

Sounds good!

Does the motor you used run a little slower, i.e. more realistic, than the original?

It's very close, about the same.

@@watchtrainsnow1099 Your using stock windings, so you get what they determined. If you rewound the coil yourself, and added more to it, you would have more power, but a slower RPM. Thus less windings faster, but less power. What I don't know is if the AWG is another factor.. Surely it affects how many turns you get, and how the amperage input will be sffected.(electrical engineers spot here).

@@annaparker9722 Yes, for sure. I do not have the equipment to solder the wires to the commutator. It’s too small…
