My dad and I Followed all these trains individually over the years and saw the triple header twice what an experience I surely miss those days and knew all the engineers including Jack Taylor Bob Keeney Emmett Hicks my dad has since passed, but watching these videos and looking at pictures I have surely take me back and bring back some great memories
1218 is a 2-6-6-2 the 3985 is a 4-6-6-4 larger it's a challenger. Love the tripleheader, was raised around steam love them. I live in eastern Utah, what used to be the D&RGW RR.
Hey Kipp, some RU-vidr named Frisco Productions ripped this very video and uploaded it on his channel! (Everyone please upvote this comment so Kipp will be more likely to see it)
@Chessie9009 They often used larger than normal tenders or auxiliary tenders to increase the range. With water towers long gone, you had to stock up on the water. When I rode the 611, the local fire department filled the tenders.
L I am how did you get this idea, it makes sense but a quadruple header is 4 engines. 1218 is an articulated locomotive, hence why she has 2 pairs of 6 wheels.
It was originally an LE&W locomotive, and became NKP 587 after the LEW was bought by the NKP in the 1920s. NW bought the NKP in 1964. Norfolk and Western sponsored this excursion.
