5 days ago I rode my bicycle 25 miles from my house to a concert venue to see him in Indianapolis. It was a fun ride and an even more fun concert.

I saw David riding his bike on the west side a few months ago. Near the Javits Convention Center. He was crossing the West Side Highway to get to the bike lanes. He was wearing a helmet.

I love riding my bike because it’s fun, it’s good exercise, it reduces your carbon footprint, and it’s cool 😎 Thank you David Byrne

I saw him on the corner of 7th Ave, across the street where the St. Vincent's Hospital used to be, oddly enough, and he was coming to a full stop on his bike when I noticed him and instinctly put out my hand out to shake his saying "It's a pleasure sir". Poor man shook my hand frightened to the bone. Never jump in front of a man coming to a stop on his bike late at night in a dark Manhattan night. Lesson learned.

Like with cars, most accidents with your bike happen close to your home. Pls David, wear your helmet! Luv your advocacy for bikes too.

Little by little, I hope you are seeing these, as I think you are. In the 70's, I lived on Long Island and found by calling as a Visual Artist working for Sears. I started biking around the "Village" That was Babylon Village where everyone loved to live. Very old victorian homes on the Great South Bay. Clamming was the industry of choice since it was lush with clams. So I and my then husband, starting biking because it was so beautiful looking at the sights around town. And I finally decided to ride to work at Sears, 2 towns away in Bay Shore. At first it was scary because the store was on a main highway. But I got braver and braver and made it there in about 20 minutes. I don't remember how long I did it for, but I will never forget it. I am thinking....was it a coincidence or synchronicity?

I thought I would rework, '9 Million Bicycles in Beijing' into 'Bicycle Song' with Chinese transliteration. I really like those old bicycle designs of Beijing; But, the freight is oft too much to pay. Otherwise, the price is okay. I always liked Talking Heads. That bike way in NYC is very good. I like how it is designed. I'm getting ready to design a manual push scooter for myself and hopefully I can work out a way it will fold down into a push trolley per groceries. The main steering handles only need to fold down and a bag stopper is placed at the rear of the scooter. I've got the wheels and a design idea in my thoughts...

I thought he was from Milwaukee orginally? He needs to help them out. They have a pretty good urban scene there. It does not have to be a big city to be hip and urban

Hey David what kind of bike do you ride?
@BioDieselEstate

Dear David, Wearing a helmet is important whenever and wherever a bicycle is being cycled. Heads striking trees, ground, road furniture and concrete, especially pavement kerb stones, can be fatal, easily. My cousin died in Oxford (a city with a comparatively high cyclist population) because he hit his head on a kerb, after falling off his bicycle. The paramedic at the scene said undoubtedly, he would have survived the relatively minor accident - had he been wearing a helmet.

Why were people running in the bike lane at 2:00 ? PS: Don't ever remove your right hand off the brake lever, the signal for right is not to point to right.:P
@ericandbeethoven
@ericandbeethoven 7 лет назад
It's actually a multi-purpose path - not strictly a bike lane. You're technically correct about the proper right signal however the intent is to communicate you are turning right. Far more people understand pointing than the left arm pointing up. I tend to point right when cars are behind me in an urban environment and use the left arm when riding with fellow cyclists.

David Byrne needs to ride the Fred Willard spirit forward along the bike paths of his time. "But little by little. It's not going to be uh something overnight."

He was born in Scotland. His family moved to Hamilton, Ontario when he was two and to Maryland when he was about eight. Not sure if he ever lived in Milwaukee though he likely performed there.

We will shut down all the roads in NY and turn them into bicycle lanes. Your right David. People have to get to NYC from places that are far away. Not everyone is rich enough to have an apt in NYC.
@tomthefunky

I fear bicyclists more than cars. I've had too many close calls with them. Too many don't follow the rules, fly through the streets and are completely silent. So far, the bike lanes have not eased traffic one bit. Terrible idea.
