Quick return flight from Auburn to Sacramento, CA. Poor visibility due to the fire just north in Paradise. We flew in for the AYA.org (American Yankee Association) get-together / lunch. Great time visiting and checking out the airplanes, and happy to have Andy as my capable co-pilot for the trip.

Yep... sadly, the Yankee has been sold. It was a great airplane, but didn't quite meet my needs for long-distance travel. I think the new owner will be very happy with the airplane; and I hope to be happy with my new Glasair.

Hi Peter, great video - I just bought a Grumman AA1A Yankee. What power setting did you have?
@peterjaypriest

Hi Johannes, Thanks for the note. This Yankee (no longer mine, now...) has the 150 HP engine. Most of my flights were at around 7500 msl, at full throttle, leaned to about 50 degrees rich of peak. So, somewhere around 70% power. They sure are fun. Hope you get to enjoy lots of great flying with your Yankee. Peter

@@johanneskroll9008 Hello Johannes, I'm not sure I understand which fairings you're looking for. The wing root fairings?

@@peterjaypriest sorry my mistake - i mean the wheel fairings
@peterjaypriest
@peterjaypriest 3 года назад
@@johanneskroll9008 The original wheel pants are, I believe, ABS plastic, and not very durable- which is why most of the AA1 fleet seem to be without them. The wheel pants on my Yankee were fiberglass- and possibly from a Van's RV- but I am not certain.
