I like the humor of this scene. It was organically funny. They should've cut a lot of the "Oops" "Uh oh" type scenes in favor of him tapping into the force, the way he does in Pod Racing.

Actually Anakin did not do anything wrong in this case in fact he did something very good. The only people killed when he nailed the control ship were a bunch of Viceroy Nute Gunray's flunkies, including Captain Daultay Dofine, helm officer Tey How(she was the one with the data goggles) and a few other Neimodians. Other than that the rest of the crew were B1 battle droids(clankers) and maybe a few Droidekas(rollies).

Perfectly fits the character. I mean, of course he would think about it, since Qui-Gon told him to stay in the ship.

I guess it was probably cut because it clashed with the flow of the other scenes. Imagine seeing this right after seeing QuiGon die in Obiwan's arms. It doesn't quite fit.
