On Saturday, September 20, 2014, the NAD and RID Boards visited the American School for the Deaf. As part of their collaborative efforts, they attended a public presentation of the joint NAD-RID Certification Committee. That presentation provided an overview of the committee's recent and upcoming work on several of the certifications that RID offers - the NIC, the CDI, and the SC:L. A Q&A session followed.
The NAD-RID Certification Committee (CC) is working to meet the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) standards for association certification programs. The NAD and RID joint effort toward assuring that all RID interpreter certification exams are accredited by NCCA speaks highly of our commitment to increasing the value of the credentials offered. Of course, interpreting consumers and those seeking certification will enjoy additional assurance of the quality of RID credentials as a result of robust NCCA standards.
Please let us know your thoughts on this exciting work. Talk about it here, or let us know at: ccfeedback@rid.org!
