These guys built something unique too, its a lot easier to hop on stream and hit the hottest trend and make bank if you've already got somewhat of a following, than it is to build an entire community with a cult following, inside of a single game franchise, that is almost more popular than the game franchise itself. That takes funding, dedication, and support. edit just for reference: at peak faze back in like 2016-17 maybe, they had reached 75m followers across all members/accounts. I get some may be repeats, but thats more than 35x the amount of montly active players COD has nowadays at 2million. active player counts reach around 200,000 in steam for mw3 newest, and BO2 across all platforms had 300,000 players in 2014 (2 years after during AW so shit new cod) so its pretty safe to say the same amount of people play cod, as back then. feel free to correct me but thats just a really rough guess CoD from what i can find had around 2500 employees working on MW2 2022, its probably lower now bc the gaming/coding industry went thru some cuts after X/twitter did. But just let that sink in. lets say 1000 employees to supports a game with 2 million monthly players? but a group of 18-24yr olds can support 75m fans with less than 100 employees? Mr beast has around 250 currently.... it just doesnt make sense, no matter the argument. They lost what they had because none of them knew what to do with it, and they didn't get the right answers, and no one supported them that had their best interests in mind.
