The chair of the Culture, Media and Sport committee, Dame Caroline Dinenage has told TalkTV that she has been contacted by former X Factor contestants ahead of her grilling ITV chief Dame Carolyn McCall next week - and revealed the matter will be a “real focus” of the committee.
In her first interview since ITV bosses appeared in front of the CMS committee on Tuesday, Dame Caroline revealed on Friday Night with Nadine that the inquiry next week could see a wider focus on other ITV programmes, not just on This Morning and Phillip Schofield.
It comes just days after former contestant Rebecca Ferguson alleged ITV CEO Dame Carolyn McCall refused to launch an enquiry into post-show aftercare and codes of conduct on shows including The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Love Island - and called for an independent inquiry.
Speaking to TalkTV host Nadine Dorries, Dame Dinenage outlined the questions she would be putting to McCall when she is called to answer questions on safeguarding by the culture, media and sport committee on Wednesday 14 June.
