Why are those tone fields on the bottom white? Do they have magnets on them? Are they playable?

This is double-sider, there's another scale on other side. It's playable

I'm assuming that the magnets are placed on the bottom notes because without them, I'm sure that there is some crosstalk to the bottom from the top and wouldn't sound as "clean" as it does in the video.
