Naga tribals had our own system of governance, we sumi have our customary law traditions practices and usages which is neither given by British or the India government. Since time immemorial. Which is carried on as ancestral heritage as kukami or Akukau which hereditary carried out throughout generation to generation. Whoever is challenging the kingship and hereditary chieftianship of Nagas especially of the Sumis , then consider them that they i are idiots....cowards... As without the basic knowledge about customs traditions practices about the Nagas they are simply barking at their own shadows..... Don't waste our energy for a foolish whatsapp comments.....
The whatsapp msg is spoiling young people who are unaware of our systems. More then 25 years of them staying in our place have penetrated every systems. NSCN --IM or Tangkhuls might not enter our churches, villages councils, etc but our own kacha people follow their ideology.
@@eliatetso2444 he just stated the customary laws of our community. It’s nowhere mentioned above that it is compulsory for the whole Nagas to follow our customary laws. You have your own customary laws and we do too, so we and you are free to follow our own traditional customary laws. FYI, GB Kakuto has also clearly mentioned in this interview that the Konyak’s, Garo’s, Sumi’s and the Kuki’s follow hereditary chieftainship. Please refrain from spreading negative narrow thoughts and perspectives amongst ourselves. Let’s all stand as one ‘’One as Nagas’’ with broader mindset’s. PS. The GBs from our place are just like other Village Council members. They don't have much income or allowances. But we could see many GBs from other districts has a very good income as a GB....
As far as my knowledge is concerned, the word Gaonbura itself is not our Naga language. Till today they are appointed by the government (both in villages & towns) and they act as the hand, eyes, ears of the government for better administration in the grassroots level. Other than the red blanket, they are given 25% commission from the house tax collected annually and there is also a benefit known as the GB Corpus fund.

During 1950 till recently, GBs are the victims of war between indian army and naga army. Till date their contribution for the cause of freedom fighter should not be underestemated. Yes theirs is village elders only but in reality today world in nagaland, they are overall elder of the village. Without GB, a village can never go forward. Also nagaland is the land of poor village. Whatever differences, GBs contribution in nagaland though they got nothing from any quarter, their service is excellent so let us abbreciate their service. 🙏🙏🙏
The real Naga intellectual leaders of Naga at present we have are too few.. They are 1). Sir Kahuto Chishi GB 2). President of RPP 3) Some few others are there, but they're not very clear and not consistent for now.

With respect to GB Kahuto, I must say that he might have his own right in writing those points about GB as there are some GB who misused their power and bullied and harassed innocent public. As far as GB federation is concern, I as an Extra Assistant Commissioner knows how efficiently they discharge public service and support administration in maintaining law and order. Infact, they are the true backbone of bureaucracy who keeps the system in place and check. Like he have stated one shouldn't generalized just because of some rotten potatoes. As a student in the year 2012, I had to go 9-10 times to GB house to get his signature to apply for temporary resident certificate, that GB reply was always come in the morning and in the morning he would say come in the evening continuously for 7-8 days. I observed sri. Kahoto chisi as next prez of Nagaland GB. He's the man of vision and be able to fight for the whole of Nagas. In this present generation we need a person who can speak in English as well as hindi in order to communicate with the general masses. GB of nagaland must take into consideration that this man is the right choice. Of course the present prez, is my oppu but Kahoto chisi is fit and fine to be the prez. 🙏

When Britishers established their Administration over the Naga Hills, Dobashi’s and Gaonburas (G.B) were appointed to assist in their administration. At village level Gaonburas were appointed to collect the annual household tax and to carry out as Government agents for all correspondence. The Goanburas in village level is not a salaried service, but as a Government agent, paid certain commission on percentage basis out of the annual household tax collection as a remuneration and provided a red blanket annually by the District Administration authority. They are also allowed to wear the same uniform worn by the Dobashis.
Whether or not u trust is ur own issue but to come across a people like him who is fed up of this system and has a strong desire to bring a change to the society is something which is rare especially in our Naga society.
