My father was posted in Doyang, Nagaland for 8 years. I was very little but I remember that place and the people. Naga people are fierce and brave (all men/women/children) and they have the greatest respect for women. Actually most Northeastern parts have the highest respect for women compared to the rest of India! Nagaland- Land of Naga tribe...IT IS BEAUTIFUL!

India is so vibrant & vast.. That even Indians don't know stuff about her n had never visited famous places... Who needs a world tour when u have an entire world in ur own country.. 😍😍

Respect to Nagaland and Nagas from an Indian (Rajasthani) American!

Had the privilege of studying with North Eastern classmates at the seminary. When my southern friends refused to welcome me to their groups because all I knew well was rock and metal music and they thought it was devils stuff, these guys welcomed me and made me a part of their family. The nagas are incredibly proud of their culture, quick to laugh and some of the most loving and fun people you'll ever meet! Here's an interesting fact "Guns 'N' Roses is the national band of nagaland and knocking on heavens door their national anthem! (The nagas will know I am teasing them). They are awesome beautiful people. Always have a smile on their face and are very quick to laugh. But their love for chillies is on another level, one king chilli is enough for an entire family lunch and you will sweat through every orifice in the body and korbin will die on the spot!! 1) Red is the most favorite color of nagas 2) chilly is their favorite fruit! (Pun intended) 3) GNR is their national band! 4) knocking on heavens door their anthem 5) Pork is their national dish 6) they're very skilled hunters 7) very short tempered but extremely loving people!! Nagas comment like & kuribo!!

Every state in India has tribal population. Many different tribes in every state. Naga warriors are in Indian Army regiment. One of the fierce units in India. Their tribal culture with hunting history brought them the title "Head Hunters".

Oh wow m surprised you guys reacted to Hornbill Festival.I am from Nagaland and yes we celebrate Hornbill every year.All the tribes of Nagaland (not the whole of India)come together as a means of bringing unity among the varied tribes of the Nagas and promote cultural heritage of Nagaland, hence it is known as ' festival of festivals'. The festival is going on now and it goes on for ten days. If you visit during this time you will get to taste different types of traditional cuisines, witness folk songs and dances. Many tourists come and visit during this festival.

The festival is named after the Hornbill bird, as the bird is a recurring theme in many of the tribes' folklore. During the festival, the tribes showcase their unique food, clothes, dance, performance (war dance, wrestling, etc.), and other traditional cultures. Along with performances, they also organize some competitions like ghost pepper eating, pork fat eating, etc. to encourage audience participation and entertainment.

hornbill.The festival is named after the Indian hornbill, the large and colourful forest bird which is displayed in the folklore of most of the state's tribes. That stuff is called. Log drum.. The musical instruments used by Nagas( people living in nagaland) Nagaland has 16 major tribe.. And some of the hornbill festival competitions are 1 chilly eating competition ( hottest chilly in the world) 2. Pork fat eating 3 painting 4 photography 5 music And lot more....

I am from Nagaland so let me give u a brief update about the festival. Its is a Festival where all the tribes of Nagaland come together to showcase their dance, songs, tradition & culture.. Other then the Chilli eating (Naga King Chilli or Ghost pepper) & Pork fat eating compition, there are many more such as angling, off road, music, etc etc... There are Night Carnival, Art show, musical events, WW II memorial march many more.. U can also watch the video "Hornbill Festival - Festival of Festivals". This video will give you a brief description of the festival.. Let me add that all the tribes of Naga have their own dialects, their own customs, their own trational clothes, each different from one another. Even the food habits differ from ane another.. All the tribes are collectively called Nagas

Tribes from all over the world come to showcase their culture in this festival. Also, the festival is named after the large exotic bird because it forms the center of many a local folklore.

There are 16 major tribes (Lotha, Konyak, Angami, Ao etc) in Nagaland (a state in North Eastern part of India). All 16 tribes comes together for the exhibition and sale of arts and craft. There are cultural competitions such as wrestling, archery, beauty contest, dance shows etc. This festival is important from state tourism point of view.

Hornbill, is the state bird of Nagaland. The head gears worn by some Naga tribes have Hornbill feather in them. The Festival has only been recently started to be celebrated as a means to unite the various Naga tribes. The ten day festival presents various tribal music, dance art forms and games primarily from the North East... It is called the festival of festivals because all tribes in North East India have their own traditional festivals celebrated throughout the year. But during hornbill festival, all of these festive celebrations are are done together in a span of 10 days.

it's called Hornbill festival because the Hornbill bird centres alot of tribal folklore. The history and origin of the state also varies from the mainland states. The people are said to be of Sino-Mongoloid descent. Some tribes were headhunters. Fun fact: during the WW2, the biggest battle which prevented the Japanese from invading India was fought in Nagaland-Manipur. Hence, WW2 cemetery for India is in Kohima, capital of Nagaland. This is just a short summary. 😂 Love from Nagaland 💓

There are 16 tribes in nagaland it consist of, Angami, Ao, Chakhesang, Chang, Kachari, Khiamniungan, Konyak, Kuki, Lotha, Phom, Pochury, Rengma, Sangtam, Sumi, Yimchunger and Zeme-Liangmai (Zeliang). Nagaland consists of 16 major tribe, and this festival last for 10 days, from December 1 to 10th and during this festival the people of Nagaland AKA Naga's showcase their custom and tradition to the entire world. And during this festival tourist from all around the world come and witnessed the diverse cultures of the Naga tribes and People. Beside from all this there are various extra curriculum activities like, pork, chilly eating competition, marathon race, hornbill international rock contest, bamboo climbing competition, and during this time they performed their folk song, folk dance and folktales etc etc , words just cannot describe this festival , you have to experience this to know it, it is very deeply rooted the more you learn the more you want to explore much more

Yeah u should watch some more of it , it didn't show the cultural dances , their different cultural huts , food , night time rock shows as well , museum , war museum of world war 2 where this place was major target for japanese forces . Also this started by the govt to bring the different tribes together and celebrate their existence all in one . It later promoted tourism also for the state . It's a wonderful 10 days festival where dance , cultural events , competitions , art shows , music shows , local shops , everything comes together .

It's Naga-Land (Land of the Nagas) also formerly known as 'Hill people' or, like some like to call us, 'Headhunters'. Located in the Northeast of India right at the Myanmar border, Nagaland is inhabited by 16 recognised tribes all unique in their attire, diet, sports and customs. Some Naga tribes can also be found in Neighbouring Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Myanmar. Each tribe in Nagaland has their own date to celebrate their various festival of Harvest, feast, Sowing etc, where various Songs, dances and Poetry are sung and displayed ranging from themes of merrymaking and flamboyant dances and poems of nature and animals to war and death. The tribes inhabiting the state were once headhunters who hunted and killed for their price (human head) as a display of bravery and transition from teen to adult however, this custom of hunting heads changed with the advent of Christianity in the 1800s. If you visit some districts in the state today you will still find the ancestral burial grounds and centuries old skulls of the slain and morungs (Huts for the youth where they learn everything, from customs, tradition to arts of carpentry to battle). There is so many things that are unique about this place; so much to express and show but words fall short of the real experience. The Nagas were the only Head hunters in india

Hornbill festival is celebrated in North East Indian state called Nagaland. It is a cultural festival like Durga Puja or Ganapati festival to us. Nagas or people of Nagaland love their deep rooted culture and heritage and takes great pride doesn't let people to looked down upon their tribal root. But yes if not tampered with their culture they are very friendly and lovable people.
