In this episode, Dr. Svoboda talks about the Nagas, ethereal beings that appear to us as snakes, and gives a bit of information about well-known Nagas.
Nagas are traditionally worshiped in India and Nepal on the fifth lunar day (tithi) of the bright half of the lunar month of Shravana. This is said to be the day that the Sarpa Satra (sacrifice of serpents) of King Janamejaya was stopped due to the intervention of the young sage Astika, whose mother was a Naga. Naga Panchami is a good day to salute snakes so that you & they can peacefully co-exist; to expiate the killing of a serpent; to propitiate the Great Serpents like Shesha (Ananta); and/or to alleviate Kala Sarpa Dosha (an unfortunate placement of Rahu and Ketu). A common way to worship is to bathe with milk a living snake or an image of a Naga made of silver, stone or wood. Salutations to Naga Devata!
Dr. Robert Svoboda is the first Westerner ever to graduate from a college of Ayurveda and be licensed to practice Ayurveda in India. During and after his formal Ayurvedic training he was tutored in Ayurveda, Yoga, Jyotish, Tantra and other forms of classical Indian lore by his mentor, the Aghori Vimalananda. He is the author of over a dozen books and has served as Adjunct Faculty at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, NM, and at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA.

Kashmir was a land of Nagas even before humans inhabited that place. This is mentioned in Nilmata Puran. Also there are many temples and places in kashmir like Anantnag and Sheshnag . Rajtrangini a historical chronical written by Kalhana Pandita has well described about Various Naga . As in the story, the Nagas are thought to be semi-divine beings - half human, half serpentine and the original inhabitants of Kashmir. Kalhana writes of the origin of Kashmir and how it was populated in his famous book ‘Rajtarangni’. In what feels more like a mythological legend than a historical account, he speaks of how Kashmir was once a large body of water. Kashyapa, the father of the Naga King, Nila, drained the water for humans and Nagas to cohabit this space. Here they find a space in the creation myth of Kashmir. The Nagas are said to have a close association with water. It is not strange then, that to this day, Kashmiris call springs of water nags while the word nagin is used to refer to small springs. Numerous places in Kashmir derive their names from these legendary beings thus creeping into the nomenclature of a civilisation that has eliminated them from their narrative

Thank you for your comment, Arnesh. Similar to Kashmir the Kathmandu valley was said to have once been a large lake that Manjushri drained, displacing all the nagas that lived therein. However historical these accounts may have been, it does seem likely that, for whatever reason and by whatever means, there came a point when nagas and humans could no longer comfortably cohabitate, and humans have now forgotten even that they once did so

Sir I'm from Northeast India Manipur during British Raj of India and British East India company prime time, they first encounter us roughly around 1820 the britishers identity my people as the NAGAS head hunting hill warring tribe, during those time my tribe Tangkhul have roughly 270 village, each village warring hunting head upon each other as tradition, our women are tattooed as they reach womenhood, our home decorate with human head trophies, game animals head, home with horns, later a reverend by the name William pattregrew comes and we found Jeasus. Slowly we lose those old pagan way everything changes. There's a saying we once have our own alphabetical letter, written on animal skin later years the skin got moldy, the elders try to tried the skin in the sun but the dog chews it away, while the scholar who wrote the script skull lay bare as part of trophies in neighbouring chief home won from "ngathirai" so finally the elders decide to past down our root history with folk song, tales, folk dance, but after ww2 and British left we got stuck in between political map and become part of India. Before that we don't know what is religion. The British calls our people "Naga" hill tribe people. Just saying since the name is similar. Sorry for my bad English and long essay. God bless 😊

Takshaka is not enemy of Shesha. In fact Shesha is the Rajadhi Raja of Nagas, and Takshaka is one of the ashta kul nagas, that survived the sarpa satra and is worshipped in south. All Nagas are very co-existant of each other and if you please any one Naga king then rest also become amenable to you. Kashmir and Coastal Karnataka, kerala, Goa, are most prominent Naga kshetras. Where water bodies have been drained. Also in many parts of India.

This may sound far fetched coming from a westerner, but I think one of these has attached itself to me. I don’t have a diagnosis, I live a functional life, and I have had many very real experiences of being taken over by something and the few times I’ve seen it enter me, it looks a lot like a Chinese dragon. It’s chaotic neutral at best… I need help. I don’t know where else to go.

Sir, what would you say about people who have prominant planets in Ashlesha Nakshatra which is ruled by the nagas and a number of Astrologers almost considering the nakshatra to be a very negative one to the point of treating the person as an outcaste? Even though nagas have been considered as ethereal beings.
@DrRobertSvoboda
@DrRobertSvoboda 3 года назад
While I agree that Ashlesha is a nakshatra whose energy is not easy for most people to digest, I think it is foolish to consider that nakshatra to be so negative that an Ashlesha person should be shunned. I have several friends who have moon in Ashlesha, including one who is herself a jyotishi. The problem is that often human beings like to criticize what they can't understand. But they should look more carefully into history. Nagas are indeed a race of ethereal beings, and as with any other species there are good nagas and bad nagas. The best of the nagas is of course Shesha, on whom Lord Vishnu Himself sleeps and who incarnated on Earth as Balarama. Patanjali is a naga incarnate always shown as a human from the waist up and a serpent from the waist down. And the Nagaraja Muchalinda protected Lord Buddha as he was meditating to gain enlightenment. If you can find a good way to work with this serpent power, great things can be done!
