My favorite part about seeing this brought into the animated format was when they got under the instruments you literally get to experience what the in universe characters are hearing. They are absolutely nailing the presentation of this anime 😊😊😊

11:50 yeah that part is actually something that can happen in a real situation. It even relates to what Sun Tzu says in the art of war. When you attack a group of people, you have to give them a way to escape. That way they'll use all their energy to try and escape instead of fighting back. When the door was closed everyone was listening and doing what Jinwoo said without asking, the moment it opened they all stoped thinking.

With the "prove your faith" if u really think about it, it does make sense for the "test" to be just standing there and look at the statues, because if u had faith in ur god why would his underlings scare u? Those who ran away proved they fear and not believe the god that this dungeon portrays, letting them go because of that, while for the one who stayed behind proved his faith, im not gonna spoil but i wonder what kind of gift will the god have for our little mc here🤑

(Not a manhwa reader) The "proving your faith" one, I think, makes sense in that to prove their faith to that God, they would have to risk their opportunity to live? It's similar to how a lot of people did awful things like sacrifice their children to prove their faith to Jesus. If they had stayed and risked it, it proved that they were faithful and they were given that ability he was given without suffering any (more) injuries.

The music that acted as a dramatic cinematic soundtrack when the statues started singing was amazing! Also Jinwoo screaming his life out in the background while we are hearing his thoughts gave me chills. I read this so many times, but this was a new way to experience the story. The anime is really living up to the original works. I loooove this 😭

"courage". Courage of the weak. This is most important point of Jin-woo's character. He almost died multiple times during raids but he still had courage to go into the dungeon despite knowing he might die. As they said, courage is not the absence of fear, courage is acting in spite of fear. This point is the whole reason the story of solo leveling happened.

The webtoon art is really good. The panelling is done in a way where it feels like it's moving as you scroll down. It's a big reason why it's so famous. Sadly the main artist Dubu didn't live long enough to see his art animated.

The studio did a really good job in adapting the webtoon. I still remember how scared I was when I first read it and the high tension I felt, and the anime managed to even double that even though I already know what was going to happen. I'm so happy that they did well at least for the two episodes that we've gotten so far.

The statues smile looks great just like the manhwa. Heck they even got the brutality of solo leveling just right

Fight or flight response. It's absolutely primal and against the thought of certain death most would choose to try and run. The greatest thing though is we aren't even close to good parts yet of this anime . Excited to see how it progresses they crushed the smile. That is what hooked me on the manwha.

11:33 I can definitely understand the first person that ran because when I was around 9yo, me and my cousin ended up being surrounded by hornets. He said not to move and we did not move for 2 or 5 seconds (seems very long when you're afraid and young with bunch of hornets flying in your face) and that's true they did not sting us bug I was too afraid because I did not know how true his statement was. I ran and they ended up stinging both of us after I ran. So to answer your question: yes I think it can be a normal survival instinct behavior (at least to the young me)

For the most part this is normal human behavior. And 9 times out of 10 the instinct in humans is flight…to run away from Danger. I and others are the exception to that. I remember hearing a screeching crash happen outside of my house. I didn’t even put shoes on, I SPRINTED out of the house and began pulling the occupants of both vehicles from the flames of their cars. When EMS arrived on scene I gave them the sitrep and got out of their way. I noticed one of the occupants was trying to walk away, so I ran to him and grabbed his wrist. He tried to break free but others saw me holding him, and alerted the cops. He slipped out of my hands, but the cops got him. He had caused that accident, and he had killed the other drivers wife 😔 My husband came to the scene and wrapped a blanket around me, hugged me and said “ That was the STUPIDEST thing I have ever seen you do. The cars were on fire honey! Didn’t you think about us when you risked your life to save theirs!?” Yes I had. I thought as I was pulling them out, that I hoped someone would do the same for me and my family if this was us…. Jinwoo is like me, the 1% that acts and accepts the danger, trying to save everyone else.

Solo leveling is good at start, but turned mid.

Basically it’s like a game but it’s not. Like Mc will have the same stat screen and shit you see in games but in the real world.

The faith was in hoping the door stays open when the blue flames go out, cuz there was no guarantee that the statue would let them leave in the end. It couldve jus killed them off.. but as they watched each person escape it became more and more enticing to choose the selfish route. Even if leaving let them escape they knew someone had to stay behind it obviously wouldn't let them all leave in that moment.. so it was a selfish decision they made but also a smart one, simply because they didnt know whether or not that door would stay open once the timer was finished.

watching the anime after having read the comic so long ago, there's so much foreshadowing this early on that you would never expect going forward... it's actually crazy.

If all stayed then they will all die after blue flames went out. The whole point was not staying alive till flames go out but was to pass the TEST OF COURAGE.

Yeah I dont get hyped for much but this manhwa is actually pretty hype. And its great to see it animated and even better to see people react to it.
