Nahum: God Is Dangerous But Good - Tim Conway

What do you find when you go to the book of Nahum? You find that it reveals who God is, a God who is both dangerous and full of wrath, and a God who is full of mercy and compassion. What should our response be to this Lord? To go forth and tell men of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the only way to escape such wrath.

0:00 - What do you know about the book of Nahum?
8:34 - Nahum reveals who God is...and men tend to not like this revelation.
24:13 - "Surely I will not die... my way seems right!"
38:11 - Man needs to be saved from God's anger.
41:19 - If this is true, what is more, important than telling people how to escape this wrath?

I don't care. Are you "monogamy perfect" ( meaning only one slept throughout life time) that support that. If I crossed you, Were my purity, my values, and what I am, cannot be hindered even if others are worst. Are you people that support genderflawing of what God created? Or are you people that neutralise perverted behaviours in humans? I don't care about books or what you say...if you are criminals that have different version "that humans should not be" you are NOT Gods, thats not ever gospel. Now, see what it says, now read what what you have said, ....preached. I am scared there are trafficers bad. Criminals.

One verse that marked me when I was a young believer was Paul's exhortation to consider both "the kindness and the severity of God." It's the sort of thought that, meditated upon, stretches our understanding to the point of tearing; like an earnest effort to hug the Earth with your arms. Pastor Tim's 'otherworldly' is correct!

I love God‘s perfect timing. This was so very good. I read the book of Nahum four days ago, and then I was scrolling through RU-vid and found this last night. Everything God does and intentional. The first thing I thought while reading the book was we can easily take out none of a and put in the United States of America.

Philippians 2:12-15 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.

Hi Pastor Tim. I love this sermon. But there are parts here where I'd like to raise a question: In 53:00, you said something like God gave them the opportunity to repent. I learned, just lately, that repentance is grace. And that when God gives grace of repentance to man, it will never be vain; it will never fail to transform man so that he’s saved. Jesus is the personification of God’s grace. Please enlighten me. Thanks. In somewhere 59:30, You said:  “He will not extend grace to anybody who’s determined to continue fighting against him.” - But is this the condition of all men? Who now can be saved?  “His grace demands that you surrender, lay down your weapons of warfare, and surrender to his mercy. That’s the expectation.”  “He (Jesus) comes to a guy .. and says, ‘turn from trusting that and trust me.’ Then the guy said, ‘No, I won’t do that.” Do you think Jesus is going then to offer pardon and forgiveness to him? It does not happen.” Now, how can we reconcile that man is really utterly nothing and sinful, and that God’s grace is free, not merit to those who obey or surrender? And that salvation alone is God’s? Sincerely, Hanna

God I will continue to trust your timing even if I don’t understand. I’m having a hard time paying bills and putting groceries in the refrigerator. BUT I STILL TRUST YOU LORD! Faith is trusting in God durning hard times. Faith is what is getting me through my hard situation. I’m still struggling to providing for my two autistic children since losing my job over declining the vaccine. I declined due to my pre existing health condition (Lupus) and Heart disease. I was denied my medical/religious exemption from Forsyth Hospital. My husband passed away three years ago, so I’m all alone. Both of my sons are non verbal so things are more hard on me. Every month I don’t know how we are going to make it through. Every month is a struggle, a battle to not end up on the streets. I’m so depressed and embarrassed by my situation. I’ve been put down and mocked over my circumstances. I’m so ashamed and overwhelmed. BUT because of my faith God shows up every month and provides. He has even sent strangers to help me, thank you Father. Even as I face homelessness with two young children seemingly every month! I know that God will provide abundantly. Thank you Jesus. I BELIEVE!

For a detailed response of that question, in 2013 Tim did a study called, "How Do I Run to Christ?" ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K6bQdEmwseI.html Here is one brief quote from that study: Acts 2:21, “It shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Same truth in Acts 2:21 that you get in Romans 10:13. Everyone! Both of them dogmatically stated: EVERYONE who calls on the name of The Lord will be saved. There it is. That is how you run to Christ.

[1] An excellent sermon. [2] But is God good if He sends people to hell - just because He has chosen them to go there - before they were born and before they could do any evil or good? [3] O how confusing Calvinism is. It preaches that your sins are forgiven - past present and future and that you have an assurance of heaven - yet it preaches the wrath of God to the saved. Yes, those in Pastor Tim's congregation who are not saved (many?) need to take heed of this sermon. However, the saved need not fear (according to Calvinism) for they have the assurance of the perseverance of the saints. [4] However, we need to remember that the majority of God's "chosen" people failed to enter the Promised Land. [5] According to Scripture this message DOES need to be heeded by all - since only those who continue in the faith and endure to the end - will be saved.

God was that to that person he was telling what he thought he knew. For example, I cannot percieve others becoming well. They might lie too. But if I had some life that was spared sort of severe experience I would never forget that or stop being greatful to God. Thats not for others, it will create contempt speculations and lesser life that they have with the creator sometimes they might have had greater experences but would not have communication skill that puts their experience lesser than mine. Thats bad.

@Ancient Paths: Thanks for watching. I'm one of Tim's fellow elders/pastors in San Antonio and I see you keep commenting with a common theme on our videos, so please allow me to respond. First, while we may fall under the umbrella of "Calvinists," we're not concerned with fitting into anyone else's definition of what that might mean. People will say in their comments, "I thought you guys were Calvinists" because we preach something which doesn't fit into a preconceived notion of what Calvinism is or isn't. Our concern is preaching what the Bible says, not what fits into any "system." Now, allow me to respond to a few of your points. "[2] But is God good if He sends people to hell - just because He has chosen them to go there - before they were born and before they could do any evil or good? Well, yes, He is good and sending such people to hell does not affect His goodness in any way. If we flip that around and say, "Is God righteous if He sends people to heaven - just because He has chosen them to go there - before they were born and before they could do any evil or good," have we denied God's righteousness? No, we haven't. God's goodness is only questioned by the opinions of men who object to His free, sovereign choice in electing sinners, in love, to salvation and passing over the rest. We do not get to stand in judgment against the One in whom we live and move and have our being. Again, we are not concerned with what "Calvinism" preaches. We are concerned with Scripture. Does Scripture say the sheep (who were never goats - but just lost sheep before they were found) are secure in the hands of the Son and the Father? Yes (John 10:28-29). Does Scripture say of all that were given to the Son by the Father, none will be lost? Yes (John 6:35-40). Does Scripture says "he who endures to the end will be saved?" Yes. Matt. 10:22. Does Scripture warn Christians about persevering in faith and not falling away? Yes. See the numerous passages in Hebrews. So, which is true? Are the elect secure, or must they endure? Scripture teaches both, so we preach both. Do the elect need to "fear?" Well, yes and no. They need to fear the Lord (Matt. 10:28; Luke 12:4-5; 1 Pet. 2:17), but they need not fear judgment (1 John 4:18). One may not presume upon one's salvation, whether Calvinistic or not. Scripture teaches the elect to strive after the holiness without which no man shall fear the Lord (Heb. 12:14). It teaches the elect to work out their salvation with fear and trembling (Phil. 2:12). We preach that because Scripture preaches it. If some who call themselves Calvinists don't, that is not our concern. [4] However, we need to remember that the majority of God's "chosen" people failed to enter the Promised Land. God's "chosen" people under the Old Covenant were not all chosen for salvation, as is clear from the Old Testament. Also "redemption" looked different when it is used in reference to national Israel under the Old. The redemption experienced by Israel as mentioned in Deut. 15:15, for example, was a national redemption from slavery... but a physical slavery, a physical bondage, and not equivalent to (but pointing forward to) the redemption of New Covenant passages such as Eph. 1:7. God chose a people, a stiff-necked people, to be the instrument through which His promised Messiah would come. He did not choose them all to eternal redemption from the bondage of sin. Thanks.

@@jeffgccsatx Thank you Pastor Peterson for taking the time to reply - I know I must be very irritating. I am pleased when you say "Our concern is preaching what the Bible says, not what fits into any 'system.'" But confusion has arisen because Pastor Tim openly declares "we Reformed Christians" in his sermons and leads a "Grace" Church - and then you declare that your Church is not actually Reformed. I do not know how many "petals" you have on your TULIP - but even if you only have 2 - that still makes you a Calvinist in the eyes of the world. If you want to disassociate yourself with Calvinism - that's great - but then perhaps you should start a new denomination with a new church name - in order to avoid confusion. [2] You say, "God's goodness is only questioned by the opinions of men who object to His free, sovereign choice in electing sinners, in love, to salvation and passing over the rest." No, He doesn't PASS OVER THE REST. If He deliberately and graciously sends some of us (the few) to heaven - then He deliberately sends the rest to hell. If our salvation is unconditional - then HE makes the choice. If He could save all of us (and He could), but chooses not to save some - then He may be sovereign but He is cruel. If He offers salvation to ALL - but the majority reject His gracious offer (John 1:9-13), and so suffer eternal torment in hell because of their own free will choice - then God retains His sovereignty but shows grace, mercy and justice. I don't believe God has allowed Himself the sovereign choice to BYPASS His own commandments and His call to mankind. He has clearly requested, asked, nay pleaded with men to consider His gospel message and to make a choice, to be reconciled, to repent - you know all the Scriptures so I will not list them. He has offered them life or death, and they have to make a decision - one way or the other. Having made their choice "they are without excuse." God may be sovereign, (and He is), but if He offers mankind life or death - and then retracts that offer - He will then be a liar and not the God in my Bible. If God, after making His gracious offer THEN says - "Sorry, I didn't really mean that, (but you will have to forgive me because I am sovereign), I actually meant that you do NOT have a choice - because I chose to send you to hell before you were born.” It is one thing for God to send someone to Hell for REJECTING HIM - but quite another for Him to punish someone eternally for something HE MADE THEM DO IN THE FIRST PLACE! So in this instance your reply shows that you believe the "U" of the T.U.L.I.P. (and must, therefore, believe the "T" also). [3] You say - after carefully citing passages on both sides of the argument - “So, which is true? Are the elect secure, or must they endure? Scripture teaches both, so we preach both.” I agree - but surely your congregations then need for you to decide - one way or the other. Can a true born again believer actually lose his salvation?’’ Or do you not think that Scripture comes to a conclusion on that matter? I personally believe that as we are in a covenant relationship with God (as Israel was) that our covenant-keeping God will keep HIS SIDE of the covenant - and keep us to the end (as he did with Israel when they rejected Him). But as I also believe in man's free will, I believe we still have the choice to reject God ourselves (after being born again) - even though God remains faithful. That seems to tie the two together neatly. But I’m only a woman - so what would I know? But, of course, if you believe that God chose man for salvation before he was born - I suppose he cannot forfeit that salvation. How do you tie those two issues together? Does a belief in the "U" of T.U.L.I.P. not automatically lead you to believe in the "P" as well? [4] Your comments on natural Israel in the OT made sense - but that made me think of Romans 11:19-22 “Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, NEITHER WILL HE SPARE YOU. Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God’s kindness to you, provided you CONTINUE in His kindness. Otherwise YOU TOO WILL BE CUT OFF.” Here He seems to treat us the same way as He does Israel. God warns us Christians that we can be cut off, as He does in John 14:1-8. Once again this speaks of the born again Christian (the “branch IN ME”). Surely, if the branch IN Christ does not CONTINUE to abide in Him and produce fruit, he will be cut off and “thrown into the fire and burned.” Being “cut off” always refers to hell does it not? Surely Romans 11 and John 15 give enough evidence for the Pastor to warn his congregation about losing their salvation? But as I used to say to those in my Ladies Bible Study group - He will not cut you off for your occasional sin - but for continual, willful sin and outright rebellion against Him. Anyway, thank you again Pastor Peterson for taking the time to help me with these issues and God bless you and your congregation.

@Ancient Paths: Thanks for responding. Let me clear up one thing - I didn't say we aren't Calvinists, I said we're not concerned with being identified as such. Now, do we fall into that category? Depends who you talk to. Are we "Reformed?" depends who you talk to. Allow me to explain. Some say we cannot be either Calvinists or Refomred because we are not Presbyterian (and that is wide-ranging) in our ecclesiology in that we neither have the hierarchy of sessions, bishops, etc. Also, we do not baptize babies. Therefore, some say we can't be Reformed. They say the same thing about us being Calvinists. Because we do believe Scripture commands all men everywhere to repent, and we call all men to repentance, that's not "Calvinistic" enough for some. Because we do believe God chose some for salvation before the foundation of the world, and gave them to the Son to seek and save, and the Son will not lose one of those sheep given to Him by His Father, while those not chosen will not be saved - even as all men are responsible for responding to the command to repent and believe - we are too Calvinistic for others. One might say that's contradictory. Scripture teaches election, reprobation and the responsibility of all to repent and believe in our minds. Rather than try to say what we believe in a chat, could I allow some preaching to speak what we believe? I am preaching through our Statement of Faith and recently I went through Romans 9-11 in covering what we believe about the doctrine of election. While one may well not agree with what I said, I hope one could see I am trying to be faithful to the text and letting the text - in contact - speak for itself. Here are the sermons. @@Ancient-Paths Think I also forgot to say our identifying as "Reformed" is to help people who are looking for a certain doctrinal position - or looking to avoid it. People make up their own minds when they get here just how "Reformed" - or not - we are. Are we "Reformed Baptists?" No, because that definition typically means ascribing to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith, or to some, the 1644 LBCF, or to some, the Philadelphia Confession. Are we "Reformed?" Well, again, maybe. Are we "Baptists?" Yes. That much is clear and without debate as far as I know. Unless, of course, someone says you can be a Baptist if you're Calvinistic. See the issue with labels? Thanks.

True. Man will send himself to hell. Hell was not made for mankind - but for the devil and the demons. It is through man's free will choice of rebellion against God's holy will and commandments - that he will send himself there. Free will is one of God's most gracious gifts to mankind. If God made man with no ability to choose between right and wrong and no way to call upon Him - then He cannot judge mankind on the Last Day. Please be careful with how you portray God. Jesus who alone reveals the Father, commands us that we become perfect like His Father by forgiving those who wrong us, by loving our enemies and by blessing those that curse us. Why? Because that's who our God is. So God may "destroy His enemies" He may punish the wicked, but he can also ultimately restore them. He judges but He also restores. Because he loves all His creatures. As it is written: "For God consigned everyone to disobedience so He may have mercy on everyone" and "He will not be angry forever" and also, "Mercy triumphs over judgement" and furthermore, "where sin increases grace abounds even more" (hardly a description of an everlasting wrath of God) The "wrath of God" therefore, is not ultimate reality. The love of God is ultimate reality. That's why the apostle John can declare "God is love". The "wrath of God", however anyone interprets that to be, will be completed. "Everyone will be salted by fire..." So "wrath" is not an attribute of God. If it was it would had been included as one of the fruits of the Spirit... God's love on the other hand, describes His very essence and will never pass away. This means that even the so called "wrath of God" can only be an expression of His love, that is, one of the means by which He accomplishes His will.

After judgement only there is heaven or hell. Who portrays God. What keeps me in God is truths. Forgiveness is a lie. It allows criminals do crime. It helps life of God violated nullified. Its terrible that if I violated life even if i die....or allowed that violation as nothing, i would be in hell itself. God was there in violations that happened....

The Gospel: Plain and Simple “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” - 2 Corithians 11:3 Ask someone today if they are saved and you will most likely hear responses like these: “I have accepted Jesus into my heart.” Or “I have made him Lord of my life.” “I’ve been baptized.” “I said a prayer.” Sounds all good and churchy don’t it; but it is difficult to de-termine whether or not a person actually knows the gospel that saves them. These use￾less phrases don’t describe a thing about what the gospel is and has left a devastating effect of people not knowing what it is that they are saved from nor how they are saved; which leaves a more serious effect of people ques￾tioning their salvation. Let’s not muddy the simplicity of salva￾tion that is in Christ with vague church sounding phrases that do not communicate anything. But rather present God’s word with clarity and assuredness. So here is the gospel: plain and simple. Sin was passed upon all men by one man Adam, and death is a consequence of this sin (Rom 5:12). Mankind has an eternal destiny of condemnation and wrath - Hell - because of this sin (Rom 6:23). No matter what good works one might do we are still found sinners in the sight of our Creator God. And all un￾righteousness and those who follow get in￾dignation and wrath. We cannot be found righteous for by God’s law we are found sin￾ners (Rom 3:19-20). If we have broken even one law we are found guilty. It is for this reason of not being able to create our own righteousness and being born in a sinful flesh that we need a savior (Titus 3:5). Christ is that Savior, God manifested in the flesh, sinless, died in our place on a cross 2000 years ago. Taking upon him the wrath and judgement that was intended for us sin￾ners. And it is through his bloodshed, burial, and resurrection on our behalf that we are able to have peace with God and forgiveness of our sins (1 Cor 15:1-4, Col 3:14). This good news is unto all but only those that believe in it are made righteous in Christ (Romans 3:22). It is then after we have heard this good news of Christ’s righteousness available to us freely, that we are sealed with the Holy Spirit and we are now part of Christ’s body the church (Eph 1:13) There is nothing that we need to do, no good works that are required, and no bad works that can separate us from our new po￾sition in Christ (Romans 8:35-39). Faith and belief in this information from God’s word is the gospel. The gospel is not accepting Jesus into your heart. The gospel is not making him lord of your life, it is not saying a prayer and it is not being baptized with water. So next time someone asks you if you are saved. Give them the clear assured answer “Yes! And let me tell you why Find more free resources at: www.graceambassadors.com

Paul does not say that others were that or he exposes them. He is not for that ministry at all its after Christ. If so he would have not been for God. Thats Nahum ....prophets way. An apostles way is to say, I was this, God did this to me. Personal alone there. Because when God pours out his Holy thats the issue to me too. Holy how???Spirit on gentiles and others alike what relevancy will these have there??? Holiness.. purity. .. For me in todays all evolved concepts... It about can I live without my skirt being tore and raped by Rapists. Will such terrible death be dismissed off by criminals filthiest??? Will justice be not visible to me. Should only judgement day be my hope on earth.... way is.. 'whats God to me". But that has no difference in God or his wrath for terrible sinners that have opted to get away doing crimes on me. God will kill them. God and me.
