Minh Phuong Vong, 39, is charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud after allegedly posing as a software developer to gain access to a national defense government
This doesn’t make any sense. If a company conducts background checks on potential employees, these red flags would show up; especially the more detailed checks that are required for positions dealing with sensitive information. How things like this happens is very very suspicious.
@hyphydan usually interviews are technical and you have to answer questions and prove to the other person vetting you that you are competent at what you do, so how did a nail tech get passed that stage?
@@warfare20111 It's simple, I've been on tech interviews, and a lot of the times, the manager does not test the candidate or it's just simple test, I kid you not. Depends on the job, they are willing to train candidate. They just take the candidate's word for it that they know this and that.
The agent used vongs name and information to get the job. If they did a background check, it was for vong, not the agent. They may have not verified the fake info on the resume. When vong was hired, he gave or mailed the computer and access credentials to the agent. Why he wrote a fake resume for a total stranger to get a job is crazy. Then to give or mail the computer and credentials to stranger, just bizarre.
@@arfriedman4577😂 but he never had the experience they were looking for. A background check can pick up past employment history, 😂they need to fire whomever hired him
@@LalithoTheRedBorderCollie when my coworker ,rip, did background checks it was for things like drugs, criminal,, police records. I believe a different person checked resume information.

There are hundreds of ways this Country has allowed its demise. The World is on fire and many of our so called Leaders and Politicians have their heads in the Sand, blind, voiceless and in deadly denial. They are failing to protect our Citizens and our Country such a sad long slow self-inflicted Suicide.
How'd the a guy posing as fong pass a background check for a cyber security company. Even with a fake resume background checks are very in depth. Plus they hired thr guy remotely for such a classified position? Didn't check his IP or to try and see if it's spoofed? Didnt use facial recognition software to see that this guys a nail tech? They're really downplaying the fact that they don't want any responsibility for not catching it.
You need to rewatch the vid again. It was Vong (not "fong") the nail tech who madeup a resume to get hired for remote work, then passed on the login info and his credentials to the NK spy. How would facial recognition identify someones profession?

@@SpiritDetective-jd7wx The job being offered didn't have anything to do with classified data. Classified work MUST be done on site in a secure area, not a remote computer. It was unclassified IT assignments. which is why there was no stringent background checks.
more Chinese came across our southern border last month than the whole year of 2023. Jordanians tried to run the main gate at Quantico, now this.....???
I read an article about a Chinese American who hired a company in China to do his job for him at Verizon. He FedEx'd his security key to China so they could login for him. Did this with more than one company, earning hundreds of thousands a year. Cost him about $15,000 per job, and he scored top marks..
@@retiredtidepodeater3339 only NK would consider that a crime. Imagine you getting tortured because you eat in front of dear leader statue for example! Ye? That is how stupid it is.
This wouldn't be an issue if we stopped pretending like there arent qualified Americans IN THE COUNTRY TO DO THE WORK. The fact that a defense contractor is even allowed to hire overseas workers is joke.
If he’s to be believed he fell for a “get rich quick” scheme. So he’s guilty of being stupid as long as his story holds up. Hiding from the police is never a good look though. Also in order to be charged with treason we have to have an active declaration of war, which we don’t with North Korea.
Tech worker and new grad with experience can’t even get job these days but This guy here with no tech background was able to pass the interview and previous job background check. Damn this wildlings 😂😂
Aren’t asian ethnicities and Russians were more likely to be spy’s since if they flee the country they wont be extradited if they make it back home unlike South America which is basically the US backyard
What happens is these companies don’t want to train our people to do the work instead they’d rather hire foreign workers because it’s a lot cheaper. We need legislation after this.
That’s exactly why this is happening. They would rather hire cheap talented labor. And pay that person significantly less, then a native born citizen with the exact same skill set. And yes their should be legislation against this stupid as practice.
Very clever. To be a nail guy and for extra layer of security pretending to be gay. Derail thefbi and court system by yelling homophonic, brilliant 👏👏👏
What is that supposed to mean? It's just xenophobic drivel. Mayorkas is a dedicated public servant. This is a nation of immigrants with names from their family traditions.
@alisont.6940 Mayorkas should be in jail. He didn't do his job. He didn't follow the guidelines that were established. He implemented his beliefs and didn't hold the security of this nation in high regard. His duty to the American citizens was Homeland security. How does that make me anti immigration? How does that make me afraid of immigration? The American government has departments. Alejandro Mayorkas was in charge of Homeland Security. His job was to strengthen the security of America. His job was to scrutinize and examine possible security risks. He has spoken very openly that he was very relaxed with scrutinizing and examining potential risks because he believed something. It was not his job to interpret or change anything! His job was to minimize risk. He didn't do that. He was doing something else. Your statement clearly reflects that you are aware he was implementing a lack of security. Your statement clearly reflects that you were aware he was implementing his beliefs with immigration and not minimizing risk for the citizens here legally. Don't try shaming me! The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) engages in immigration enforcement actions to prevent unlawful entry into the United States and to apprehend and repatriate noncitizens who have violated or failed to comply with U.S. immigration laws.
@@alisont.6940it’s painfully clear, that you know nothing. Thousands of vicious criminals, rejected by their own governments and allowed to cross the border over here, rapists, murderers, gangbangers , cartel members and child molesters. Nobody has a problem with immigration, only if it’s done right, NONE of these invaders are being vetted on who they are or any kind of background check whatsoever, NONE. Just POOF, come on in, even though we have no idea about their past or record. And morons like you, are completely fine with that, it’s disgusting and disturbing.
Here’s a little note that’s very disturbing and since I’m retired from law have access to certain databases still. Most agents that their border cannot differentiate the different Asian cultures through physical appearance and mannerisms and other means. Another words they all group them together if they’re from China north or South Korea any other Asians speaking country, the border agents cannot tell the difference. DID YOU KNOW THAT NORTH KOREANS ACTING AS CHINESE THROUGH FAKE PASSPORTS THROUGH THE NORTH KOREAN GOVERNMENT HAVE ENTERED THE UNITED STATES JUST SAW ONE ON RU-vid A MINUTE AGO ABOUT THE SAME SUBJECT. PROBABLY THE MOST DANGEROUS OF ALL OF THE CULTURES IS NORTH KOREA BECAUSE THEY IF THEY DON’T DO WHAT THE GOVERNMENT TELLS THEM TO DO WHEN THEY’RE OVERSEAS SPYING THEY TAKE IT OUT ON THEIR FAMILIES, YOU CAN’T MAKE THIS UP. CLOSE THE BORDER NOW FOR EVERYBODY UNTIL THE SECURITY OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IS SAFE!!!
I can actually tell MOST Asian cultures and people apart, but then again I was raised in a city with a large multi-national Asian population. There is a massive distinct difference between someone who is Filippino and Vietnamese, even between Vietnamese and Cambodian, but its harder to tell Vietnamese/Thai, Cambodian/Laos apart. Malaysians are a bit more modern, Indonesians a bit less so. But I can't tell the difference until they speak. If it's decent English, then its Malaysia or Singapore not Indonesia. As for the Korean, Chinese, Japanese look. Japanese will have sharper features, have a lighter skin tone and are more likely to be taller than the mentioned. Japanese also have more narrow faces and noses. Koreans have a more flat face, wider nose, and less sharp features, but it is still more than say Chinese. Chinese are usually round faces, height and weight varies, eyes are usually less sharp as Japanese, they are more likely to carry themselves more frantic or rushed like they're on a mission and busy busy busy than say the Japanese who are more orderly and don't give off the busy busy busy vibe.
McDonalds doesn't have any locations in North Korea. McDonald's is banned in 22 countries, with Iceland being the ONLY Western World nation that lacks one. A few Latin/South American and Caribbean nations don't have them, like Bolivia, Bermuda, Jamaica, Barbados. hell Coca Cola isn't even in North Korea and it's bigger than McDonalds. Being banned in only 3 countries, North Korea, Cuba and Russia. There is a good chance that Coca Cola has crossed from eastern and northern parts of Russia and China respectively into North Korea illicitly, but McDonalds? Probably never.
I think the only thing he is guilty of is greed. Ive had people message me too about using my name to work remotely in the US because the same job in china or india pays pennies compared to US. They promised half theincome and i didnt need to do much, just sit around while they do all the programming work and collect a check, seemed too good to be true so i said no. This is a very common tactic skiller indian coders and programmers use the bypass work visas. It happens more than you think. Use a resident us workers identity to work remotely in a third world to collect a first world paycheck.
At least it was just money. We’ve had real American defense companies /contractors and high-tech companies selling defense technologies to China for many years
Bro did not just fall for the bait it’s way to elaborate and the average person would have seen it as to much of a hassle just to make a quick buck . He was definitely working for them
I went to a nail place a few times because they had a manicure and pedicure special mon to wed. They had a man doing the foot spa and leg massage part. He was very good. I usually polish my own nails and toes. My dads friend was a married male hairdresser and brick layer.back in early 1970s.
Shame on him,he was welcomed in this country and he betrayed it.I am also an immigrant in US ,but i would never betray this country who gave me shelter when i needed.
Even if the companies had defense contracts, they might have other contracts too, and especially "freelance" jobs wouldn't be for the type of work that requires extensive background checks, so I'm not sure the emphasis of the news people on defense contracts is very relevant.
If you work in defense, you get emails supposedly from head hunters. They want to see credentials before setting up interviews. The problem is that the real headhunters do this, so it's easy for someone to scam contractors because they just do the same thing. Why is this poor idiot in so much trouble? I doubt he risked so much intentionally. Probably thought he could outsource his own job or something -- some guy wrote a book about doing that, I think at Apple.
Thats pretty genius of the North Koreans. So, the US gvmnt is mad at Fong, because THEY hired a N Korean code writer by accident? How many Americans work online for Russia, China, Iran, thinking they are working on some gaming device for a completely different nation? One heck of a simulated war game.
