NAJ COSFEST 2019 | Nagaland Beatbox Championship 

Who else haven't visited to NAJ Cosfest yet? Or is it just me? Updated: I did this year :)

Suggest someone could cosplay as a typical Naga student studying outside Nagaland with boxer shorts, Adidas slides and a tank top..maybe with a dodgy blonde dyed hair. 🙂🙏

It would be hypocritical if, those commenting against this Asian culture wave belong to the generation who embraced Western American culture by listening to mostly American country & rock music such as Mr Big, Don Williams, Eagles, Guns & Roses etc dress in completely western fashion - mostly jeans and western tshirts or formals while using western musical instruments like guitar, keyboard, drums etc and perform mostly American pop, rock and country songs but preaching about Naga culture and tradition. While the new generation have embraced Asian culture instead of American or Indian culture, it would be hypocritical on the part of those preaching about Naga culture while they themselves have totally embraced western culture, fashion & communicate in English. Let’s learn to look ourselves first before judging others. But if one is dressed as a half naked Naga like our ancestors, practise our ancient religion and live solely through our age old traditional form of agriculture then hats off to you..but first understand culture and its evolution from a sociological perspective by factoring in the concept of which elements of ancient culture require preservation and which elements can fuse progressively while maintaining the core values, language, food & rituals of one’s culture. If not, opinion of social justice warriors which is only self contradictory amounts to hypocrisy. The fine balance to maintain is that while embracing pop sub culture, if we fuse our indigenous culture and values by identifying oneself as Naga first then that would be a sustainable step. If people want more local songs and dance then nobody is stopping them from organising traditional events, please go ahead and organize it. But as for us, opinions are respected and well taken. However, we will continue Cosfest and beatboxing as long as it continues to remain trending and pop because that makes us and the thousands of participants happy.simple.

There were two great program that day 1 - the cosfest program 2 - night program with parents

People are so pressed and mad that some talent are getting appreciated instead of their mediocre self that can do nothing but use words using their fingers on social media and hide behind the screens. Lemme break it to ya'll, nothing but your inferiority complex is showing because they are in a spot that you can never reach with your mediocre talent that is ranting on the internet. I must say, Good job beatboxers and cosplayers.

Kudos to NAJ and the Beatbox community for organizing such a beautiful event! It's great to see so many young talented people and minds coming together to create such a funfest filled with happy vibes. However some ignorant people will still have something to blabber. >How are these events not cultural enough? If you go back behind the scenes, they use the most Naga CULTURAL tool called the "DAO" and bamboos to build most of the setups. They even do a cultural fusion or cultural crossover to the costumes they wear (those cycling boys are wearing Naga traditional vests) So, if that's not cultural enough , you can come with your full traditional attire and enlighten the event! >Why embrace foreign culture? Naga culture have since evolved and incorporated many mixed asian and western cultures to transcend to where it stands today. We have the HORNBILL festival along with the individual traditional festivals of all the Naga Tribes to learn and promote our Naga culture throughout the year so it's no problem to have an event or two which will relief us of the "Cultural Stress" which the Naga Cultural Keyboard Warriors Society is trying to impose on us. Mind you, even "CHRISTIANITY" is a foreign culture. So, if you are a Christian and still thinks embracing foreign culture is a threat to our Naga culture, you can go worship the Stones which our ancestors did. >Lastly, organizing such events is not a waste of time, nor energy or money. It provides entrepreneurs the platform to expand their vision, a platform for the musicians to showcase their talents and the cosplayers to explore their creativity. Its also a business platform for local business men/women to sell their goods so thus generating REVENUE! If that's not doing something for the State then can you tell an example where you did something for the state? If not, go back to your cave

Our (Nagas) amazing talent and beautiful western clothes doesn't go well with the roads and infrastructure that we have here in Nagaland. Our market place and shopping area is full of shit smell. Kohima, the second dirtiest and unlivable capital city in India. I'm not condemning here but stating the reality that we are in. Hosa bi .. sorom nala ki alop bi? Really, what standards do we Nagas have in GENERAL?? If we run a race, always finish it. Likewise, if we are copycatting something of anything which we find good, then let's copycat everything which is good.

It gets better every year, had to miss it this time.

So happy to see so many young people coming together with passion, conglomeration of talent and most of all having a good time. This sort of program will encourage young people to search talent in unfrequented places and therefore expand their thinking horizon. Coming out and doing something that unites people with talent is commendable. The organizers have done a good job. 👏 My only fear is, you guys are doin so well but all the performances are foreign and therefore it may not go that big and far in future so fusing the acts with something of local (Naga) or something of naganess in it will take the program to greater heights in future. Nobody will appreciate the duplicate over the original so putting in some original material will be much appreciated and followed by the outside world. But as long as entertainment is concerned, you guys have done it. 👍 Just my opinion.
