Hey everyone, Fred here ! What a humbling experience, I’ve watched videos before and thought to myself how hard could that be and the answer is on the video! Well, one more thing I’ve got to get practicing. Hope you guys get out and record yourself and report back so we can watch! Peace out; I’m gonna shut up and practice ✌️

The two tricks to doing this successfully are: control the bike, don’t let the bike control you - don’t be afraid to throw it around; and move your head (a lot) and point your eyes where you want to go! Once you master these, it becomes so much easier.

We riders need more Japanese styled gymkhana culture. Much better to make an error at 10 rather than 100 miles per hour.
@inevespace

It's a lot about culture too. The US is obsessed with speed and power. This isn't the case at all in Nippon. When they do go for speed, they go to special events that allow to do so on a closed track. Even busa' riders buy them mostly for touring@@inevespace

Great challenge. Another advantage the big baggers have like my Victory Vision is tipover protection. It makes me a lot more willing to practice this stuff and occasionally dump the bike knowing that when I do drop it the only thing that gets scuffed is the guards.

Looked super odd on the insta360 however POV was a great view also found myself turning my head looking for the cones 😂 I feel like naked looked quicker and fluid. It looks like the naked is the get away vehicle but the supersport is just the fast bike you happen to have at the time. It also goes to show each bike has it purpose and it's not all about straight line top speed. As the naked you trade the top end for comfort and agility

👍👍👍👍👍 it is tough!!! I know I have bars on my bike and just doing one tight turn is hard. That's why when ever I hear people disrespecting you when you do your one man band show I wonder what their thinking and also that's why I love watching people do slow speed stuff. As for practice, I am still trying to get my bike ridable since the accident but usually I ride very early and look for quiet roads to try and do just one tight turn on but I was far from it before the accident in Feb, maybe next year I will nail the right tight turn and then left but yes! This is fun 👌👌👌👌👌

I ride an R3, I love, i´ve practiced sometimes, I do feel comfortable and familiar with the control and the clutch, to do these low speed turns, but not enough I know I need to practice more. My only downside is my closest big safe area like those parking lots, is about 23km from my house, so lets make it 45km in total, kinda sucks needing to get so far, but on my day offs I try. Stupid question: what are those horn-like bar ends on the first bike, and what’s the purpose? Is it just to protect the levers in case you drop the bike, or do they serve another purpose?
@Acquaaaa

Those are useful and sometimes mandatory at the track. They protect the levers from being pulled unintentionally by someone else, for example if 2 bikes collide while overtaking.

It's easier than a sport bike, obviously...for me, bike is irrelevant but it would cause me to do 2 more minutes of practice vs 30 seconds to do the same maneuvers because I don't own a sport bike, so I would need a few minutes of warm up time. I accept your challenge!! I started riding in 2004, but until recently (last few years), I was just another rider that never paid much attention to the slow speed skills. Watching your videos helped motivate me to 'do better'. I really like your 'shut up and practice' motto. I ride an '09 ZX10R and just bought a 2023 Z650RS about a year ago. I can certainly appreciate the difference you describe in the video about the handling of each type of bike in these maneuvers. I feel the 650 is WAY easier to do parking lot drills with. So, lately I've been riding the Ninja quite a bit so I can practice on it more. I'm in KS and right now, it's 20 degrees with snow on the ground, but it should warm up a bit this next weekend so I can video myself running the drills. Thanks for what you do! -Orange
