Picking a favourite is hard because all three have at least one scene or line that is hilariously memorable but I will say the first one by the smallest margin
@@edbone3035 True, but my favorite running gag in the series was that the guest star always died in the intro. And the "freeze-frame" endings. A series wayyyyy ahead of its time.
@@jenmurrayxo oh i figured as much 😀 with all the re- editing and patreon etc it's pretty much the same with all reaction channels, just a funny coincidence lol
@@drew.168 I know this is a nitpick, but it made me laugh, so I thought I'd comment on it. I think you meant "reaction" rather than "reactionary". "Reactionary" suggests that Jen and her colleagues have extreme conservative political views. Probably not what you intended. :)
The guy in the boob hat at your 15 minute mark, You've seen him already twice on TNG and you'll see him once more in TNG and then a huge role on DS9, What a character actor
The old man playing the conductor was Bill Irwin who you saw Jen in PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES as Steve Martin's seatmate who fell asleep noisily next to him and he's also best known for a guest stint on SEINFELD as an ornery old man.
He is also in Home Alone. He says " she doesn't need more earrings she's got boxes full at home, great dangaly ones" when Kevin's mom is trying to barter for a ticket.
Hi Jen! Love your reactions. The old man who seemed so familiar was the late great Bill Erwin and he was in an episode of the tv show "Seinfeld" titled "The Old Man" were Newman and Kramer were trying to acquire his record collection.
A fine way to finish the fun trilogy the thumbnail says it all 😃 Jens such fun to watch these movies with not only that she's also the dolphins delight 🔥💙
Fun reaction! We thank you and Detective Drebin for your service. 💜 Though there are still 6 more Police Squad! files you haven't seen. 'Police Squad!' [in color] from 1982 was the Leslie Nielsen / Detective Drebin tv series the Naked Gun is a continuation of. It has only one series with six eps, each ep being a new case. Same creators and writers as the films, same format. 10/10 comedy gold. Even better than the films. 👍👍
Well you did all 3 Naked Gun movies. Now you need to do Airplane 2 and I think the Hot Shots movies. Also Liam Neeson has done comedy before. One is a movie from 1988 called High Spirits where he plays a ghost. High Spirits also stars Steve Guttenburg (whom you saw in Police Academy and Short Circuit) and Daryl Hannah.
30:04 Mark! 19K Views + Mine! 😎 2K Thumbs Up + Mine! 👍 You're welcome, and thanks! 😊 Notes: This movie has so many of my favorite female celebrities in it, including Mary Lou Retton, Vanna White, Raquel Welch, and.... Anna Nicole Smith as Tanya Peters, Rocco's girlfriend and a nurse at a fertility clinic. So, it isn't Julie Strain! That would've been a very convincing perfume had it been! 😁 Back in the day, the awards tended to ignore the most popular movies in favor of the more obscure movies, for "Best Picture" unlike nowadays since the category was expanded. 😁 Liam is in the funny Western that is better appreciated if you have seen at least the third "Back to the Future" and "Django Unchained"! 😅😉 Liam has guest starred in "The Orville"! 😂 Leslie? My favorite dramatic role of is as as a starship captain that gets the blonde in "Forbidden Planet"! He's another starship captain in a comedy role and he gets the brunette! "Spaceballs" doesn't reference "Dark Star" but Leslie's movie parodies it. 😅
I still think part 1 is my overall favorite but this one is a close second! So a couple Naked Gun Running jokes: The door with Police Squad is always misspelled/backwards/etc. Or there is something going on behind it. Opening scene to this one is a spoof of The Untouchables train station scene. The character Papsmear was in the 1st movie as well. Fun fact also, producers Bob Weiss and David Zucker have had a cameo in all 3 movies as well as Weird Al. If you can find it, these movies are based off a single season tv show from 1982 called Police Squad. I think its only 6 episodes and Leslie Nielsen is the only one from the series that made it to the movies (same producers and directors). Wow that was a long comment lol
I would recommend watching the original Police Squad! TV series. It's only 6 episodes and they're only about 20 minutes each. It came out before these movies and some of the jokes were recycled, but there's some gold in there. You can find all of them on RU-vid.
If u haven’t watched top secret u need to watch that. Also I remember when I saw this it was a few months after the release in June or July & people in the theater said when they saw OJ “there he is” cause he had killed his wife in June.
I think I saw Liam Nissan do a bit of DARK Comedy in the Ballad of Buster Scruggs. A Netflix show that had a series of short stories from the Old American West. It is laced with dark comedy, and death. Liam played a man that owned a young actor. The young actor, actually more of an orator was also a paraplegic. Liam would cart this little guy all over mining towns throughout the west and collect tips for his verbal. They kind of survived off that, but not for very long. The guy that played the paraplegic was also in The Queen’s Gambit, also on Netflix. He was the first decent ranked chess player that the female heroine defeated on her way to the top. He is not really a paraplegic, just like Arizona from Grey’s Anatomy was not actually missing a leg. It is truly amazing what they can do with special affects these day. From what I saw, Liam is pretty good at humor, especially if playing a drunk is involved. He does not need A Special Set of Skills to do comedy. First time I heard about the upcoming Naked Gun movie, looking forward to it.
I loved your reaction to this film, Jen, I've just watched it from the beginning again as I was a bit late. I look forward to seeing your other upcoming reactions too.
You should really watch _Police Squad!_ It's the inspiration for the mivies and I really think it's better. Unfortunately, the network canceled it before it even aired because it required people to pay attention, leaving only six, half-hour episodes. You could probably cover the entire series in one video, though you might want to split the series in half to get more content out of it.
"Loved you in Coneheads, you too"... "Never saw it". Actually a pretty good film, in my opinion (some people hate it others love it, takes a certain sense of humor)... low key Sci-fi comedy with a positive message on Immigration and social acceptance... "FRANCE, we are from FRANCE". Its another one of those extremely rare reaction movies no one ever does. Its weird seeing the references in NG 33 1/3, since it makes me realize it was alot latter than i remember in terms of when it came out.
Awesome job as always Jen! ❤ The babies being in court was a reflection of the feminist movement at the time demanding breast feeding in public & work places along with rights to have babies come to work. The dirt scene in prison goes back to The Great Escape who did long before Shawshank.
If you want to see a more "serious" Leslie Nielsen film I'd recommend Forbidden Planet. Also the trucker that got zapped by Jayne was Marc Alaimo, a reoccurring character on Deep Space 9.
0:26 I'm guessing Jen's release order is significantly different than her viewing order or she would've definitely recognized this from The Untouchables.
I think the first one is my favorite. I tend to prefer the first and original one in the series. Typically, the first one blazes the trails, and the subsequent sequels wouldn't quite be the same without the first one. That's how I feel about this series as well. The first one wasn't just a good comedy, with some great laughs, it also had a pretty decent story. That's not always the case. For many movies, the story is just the vehicle that delivers the jokes. Maybe, it's not the greatest cinema of all time, but if you compare it to TV of the time, it could easily pass for a decent episode of television. Now, my observation about the series is that as the sequels go on, the jokes get more elaborate and funnier, but the story gets weaker and less important. I think for that reason, many seem to like the second one as their favorite. I think for many, it strikes a good balance for those that are mainly expecting laughs & not an Oscar worthy performance. People have different tastes, though. This series is one of my all time favorites. It's probably my favorite comedy series. I am glad you got a kick out of it. For Liam Neeson in a comedic role, you might like The Lego Movie.
This might be my last opportunity to recommend National Lampoon’s Loaded Weapon 1 since you watched the Lethal Weapon series it’s something you’d enjoy.
This one is actually my favorite out of the trilogy directly followed by the first one and my least favorite being the second one (which i saw the same amount of times like the other two, but at writing this comment I couldn’t remember what the plot was for the second (now i remember! It was the Sustainable Environment stuff as well as Frank and Janes break up)
👋Good Afternoon, Jen💜and I do Hope that You're having a Good Day too!❤🩹Another Trilogy Completed👏Thank You as always for everything that You do, and for (No Doubt) Enjoying this one as much as the others...😂👍
I believe that IS the old lady from The Goonies 😉🙂 Speaking of Beavis & Butt-Head, please react to Beavis & Butt-Head Do America 😃🙏🙂 You're correct, Sally Field said that.
If you haven't seen Liam Neeson in Ricky Gervaise's Life's Too Short (and the outtakes as it was semi-improvised), he's pretty good at deadpan comedy, but in a very different way to Leslie Nielsen. More serious and less slapstick. Still interested to see a new Naked Gun, but don't have high hopes.
Well done, Jen. The first one was my favorite, then tgied, and the 2nd is last for me. All 3 are recycled jokes of the old t.v. series Police Squad, which I had the luck to see on VHS, many years ago. We had a rental place here in Montreal called Black Box, with everything t.v. shows from the 1950's until 1990's. Closed down a few years ago, with the arrival of streaming platforms, but I had fun going there, back in the day. Have a nice day & see you next time.
16:24 I love how they just straight up used the exact same set from a movie called The Great Outdoors - another good comedy starring John Candy and Dan Aykroyd.
When I saw this in the theater, I was the only one who laughed at the "Dyslexia for cure found" headline joke. Leslie Nielsen was great in all of these movies.
@@ronnyhansson8713 And they chose Leslie in the first place (for the "Police Squad" TV series) because he had done another police show years earlier,* but played 100% serious. That's what they were looking for, a guy to play the part as serious as possible within ridiculous situations. What they didn't realize is that Leslie himself is quite a hoot. * That show was called "The Bold Ones: The Protectors" but it only lasted one season. Amazingly, "Police Squad" lasted even less, with only six episodes aired! Here's a taste of what "The Bold Ones" was: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7mfvSK_azto.htmlsi=ZIkm2IGwW_o1Q0x0&t=25 Leslie explained why "Police Squad" only lasted six episodes in this interview, and I believe he is 100% correct: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TaPbDmZe-lg.htmlsi=Ps1-jxLpezbhpttZ&t=119
@@ronnyhansson8713 Probably because he was a serious dramatic actor for so many years, and made a conscious decision to play his comedic roles straight.
@@yellowblanka6058 still think he would have to laugh at each scene during reading and several takes until it no longer is funny to him to let him (and the others) play it with a straight face... Amazinging well done anyway
A couple more in this genre: I know you watched "Airplane", but there is "Airplane 2". There is "Loaded Weapon 1", a spoof of "Lethal Weapon". Also "Hot Shots" and "Hot Shots, Part Deux", spoofs of "Top Gun". You'll also love "Top Secret", which spoofs spy movies...."Spy Hard" (also with Leslie Nielsen) does too. And while I'm here, I know you love a good heist, so you might want to check out "Sneakers".
The problem with Airplane 2 is that the geniuses behind Airplane (Zucker, Abrahams, and Zucker) were not involved. Airplane 2 was a simple cash grab by the studio to exploit the success of Airplane. I remember leaving the theater very disappointed.
You should watch a move titled "White Heat" with James Cagney released in 1949. I think Naked Gun 3 takes a few plot ideas from that movie. Sending an undercover officer into prison to buddy up with a convict and break him out and a mother & son criminal team ( minus the henchman ) you should react to that movie and see the similarites. James Cagney is great in that movie portraying a complete criminal pyschopath.
This was the last one. You can try the TV series, other films same actor, police academy, pink panther, Johny English, Mr bean, get smart, inspector gadget, hot shots
Had a crap day, watch one of your reaction vids and i'm good again lol. Thank you, again haha! Love this movie. Had the pleasure of Partying with Anna Nicole once at a club in Sweden lol. She was hilarious and a really cool person. Super cool. RIP
Never seen Liam Neeson in a comedy? You might want to check out Seth MacFarlane's A Million Ways to Die in the West. He also has a cameo in MacFarlane's Ted 2.
OK, I missed this too, but Jen, I'm surprised you missed the prisoner dog having a dog visitor at 2:36. These two dogs should have gotten the standard "A Dog!" shoutout.
He was more straight villain.. But "A Million Ways to Die in the West".. it's still a very . Not quite straight up villain.. but dark comic edge maybe?
Canada has given us not only Leslie Nielsen, but also Mike Meyers, Dan Aykroyd, Jim Carrey, John Candy, Martin Short, and SNL creator Lorne Michaels. It must be a very funny country.
The "Take a number" woman at 6:48 is the Zucker brothers' mother. She has been in pretty much every movie they've ever made. She was even in the more serious "Ghost" movie that was directed by one of the Zucker brothers as the woman at the bank that Whoopi Goldberg has to talk to to withdraw the 4 million dollars. In "Airplane!" she was the woman who was trying to apply makeup throughout the movie (unsuccessfully). I think she was even in "Kentucky Fried Movie", which was their first.
@@Kilo80Kilo Yep. Charlotte Zucker (1921 - 2007). I wonder if she played a part in the second movie? Just checked: She did. She apparently says, "For a man in a wheelchair, he gets around marvelously."
In the 90s there was a rash of shootings at post offices which is what the opening shootout is referencing. That's also why going crazy is known as going postal.
The wedding flashback was the original ending of 2 1/2 (which is why Jane's hairstyle is identical). Franck, Jane and the kid was the original ending of 33 1/3. Both endings were changed based on test screenings' feedbacks.
