"Water closes over your head. […] shapes emerge from the murk. This pit is a graveyard of wrecks. Air trickles out your nose. You candle has not guttered - if anything, it burns more merrily in the water. […] You feel no need to breathe. […] Not yet." -Fallen London, "Sink into the Fathomking's Court" Storylet
"Down and down and down, into the blackly-luminous fog. The zee here is thick with obstacles, with treasure, with lurching silhouettes. By the guttering light of your candle, you make out a gaping cavern. This is the bottom of the trench; this is the beginning of something else. An unshakable feeling settles in your bones: you are being watched."
The baby sharko in the corner is adorable, there really should be mini monster pets in the game I think that would be cool. But I guess we have destroyman III.
"Even should the ocean become your grave!" "May you once again tread on steady land!" naktigonis you HAVE to sing these lyrics ive never seen something this fire in my life
Listening to this after reading the monograph for this song, I really am left kind of speechless. I think the history of this song really captivates the irony of deepwoken perfectly The contrast between this song and To Sleep, Dreaming/Oscillation really makes you think about how much the world has changed since the era in which the song was written. how much they must have suffered after the world became so hostile. I really do encourage everyone with a spare 20 minutes to read the lore book on this song "The Song of Fathoms/Oscillation", It's kinda hard to look at the main menu theme the same way afterwards. Deepwoken lore really is so beautiful.
@@CloutScout69kinda is though.. the lore and world building is a thousand times better than whatever pvp meta crap the majority of people are hyperfixated on
personally, my favourite detail that i added to the book was that despite this song being composed for a heroic and adventurous occasion, it falls completely flat on its face when everyone in the first expedition very suddenly Dies from a phenomenon nobody really knew about at the time. i think that encapsulates the lore of deepwoken's world fairly well B)
Naktigonis, i heard every single music you've made before and EACH OF THEM is just perfect. for me, you are honestly the best music creator i ever seen in my entire life. you are extremely underrated (for now) i am not straight up glazing you or smth i just always enjoyed your music, its STRAIGHT UP warms up my soul... i can't describe in words. Also i am quite surprised that you read Russian comments, thanks for that too.
i keep coming back to this one... ive gotten it ingame a few times but i really should read the text attached to the songbook Each time this song comes on my playlist i cant help but pay close attention to how the melody's composed, the use of ascending and descending melodies in itself conveys a certain feeling i could not describe, especially layered with the other instruments... god, man, its just so perfect and the way it ends, quiet and blue. It feels like listening to the last hopes of man sinking down murky depths as the world disappears with comfort in the familiarity that will always take you home
Beautiful as always, so glad that Oscillation gets lore connotations. You know what'd be even more beautiful? A shanty for "The Trappings Of A Lord" / "Sin-Smelted Scoriae", the prevalence of the erisia motif makes me think it could have in-world significance to the duke himself. would also be a good excuse to have more duke lore
In the description of the text, it mentions Ingrid Jura, a Chambermaster. Jura, as of currently, isn't a surname that belongs to any race; however, it has some similarity to the Gremorian surnames, as they all end in "-Ra". Somehow, I believe that this is nothing but a name chosen by fate; but I'd also like to believe that the new surname presented, even if it's just a sample, is a foreshadow to the sheer diversity of the vast world that is Lumen that remains hidden from our eyes. As always, great piece of music. I believe that the game wouldn't be nearly as good without an original soundtrack as good as these ones you present us with, and I really mean it. I kid you not, Deepwoken has great OST for and indie game; someone hearing it for the first time wouldn't believe if they were told this is nothing but a game on Roblox. Great job.
What i love about the lore given in the description is that this leitmotif could go two ways, given how it is still present in each layer so far: a symbol of hope (The piece being written for the divers as a morale boost on their first plunge) or despair (how the Depths twists the leitmotif and makes it more somber or derranged the further down you go.)
I think that perfectly describes oscillation's context in the game: a song that can be interpreted as adventurous in its tunes, but also as a lullaby to an encroaching death It truly is The Depths
absolutely incredible how it sounds so lively, and yet so dead because you know what this song becomes. gotta say naktigonis, you are the greatest at storytelling through music, never change.
i like to think that this band was performing music at Celtor before it had sunk yet while they were performing when they hit the notes at 1:36 the great drowning begun as without their knowledge they had called for the depths by using its melody and along with everything the ministry did. Celtor sunk under the tides as the deep called.
This is why i play deepwoken. Not for progression. Its for music. I'm not here for blood. I'm here for just a violin and accordian. Eye for an Eye. And the world goes blind.
Hail to the Tides! Honoured by the sea, Journey to the fathoms in bravery! Us you will guide, Bravest of the brave! Even should the ocean become your grave! May you return, Victory in hand, May you once again trad on steady land! Glory you'll learn, Echo shall your name In the books of history, crowned in fame! Onward, to the darkest chasms! May you never falter, And may your way be led by Song! Onward, to the deepest fathoms! May the light protect you, May you return triumphant, strong!
Good God I just realized that report and poem in the video description describes some of the first years of Lumen as the tides came after use of the song. Thats a Capra Surname. How old is that race? That is actually ancient.
Excuse me, why dint you make a parady of the song " Bones In The Ocean " by the music guild " The Longest Jhons"? It'd be quite nice to be qble to sing and actually hear voices aside from I'm famous political figures in Lumen.
Isn't it a bit strange how this OST sounds the same as Oscillation? I think that implies something. I'm back from lore reading and I realized something huge. I'm a retard.
