I still remember going over to my neighbors’ house and we’d play this game over and over (we were all around the ages of 5 - 7); fast forward to many years later and me randomly thinking of this game but not remembering what it was called. It was so nice to be able to find a walkthrough of Vol. 1 and reliving the nostalgia from 12 years ago
This needs a remaster. A fully fleshed out, awesome museum hub that brings you to the old namco games but in HD. Dont touch the old games obviously, Just the museum itself.
@@alexworld8255 Yeah it’s funny that you mention that because I’m thinking the same thing. Considering that the Namco Museum series still exists today, and with the rise of VR headsets like the Oculus Rift and HTC vive, I’m surprised that Namco hadn’t brought the museum hub back in the latest versions.
As a kid, I spent HOURS in vol. 1 and vol. 3 going through all the memorabilia exhibits and playing the games. Bosconian, Toypop, Galaga, Dig Dug, Phozon and the Tower of Druaga were my absoute favorites.
This is something I've always thought about making but only recently built a PC, so, thank you for making these videos. I spent an unreal amount of time in these virtual museums as a kiddo, but have only ever owned Vol 1 and Vol 3. I remember all of the weird promotional items in the exhibit halls--and as a slightly older kid--finding out that some of the games I liked the most in these compilations were never released outside of Japan. It was like a mysterious window into another time, in another world.
Yeah and you can tell that most of the items on display are from Japan especially when you look at the flyer for Pac man because it says Puck man and if you know the story of Pac-Man’s creation then you’ll know why. When Pac-Man was originally released in Japan they called it Puck man due to his shape, but when Namco decided to bring the game to the United States they changed the name because Masaya Nakamura, the founder and president of Namco, was worried that American’s would vandalize the game and change the p to an f so they changed to Pac-Man.
@@smashmaster521 Volume 4, 5, and ncore are where the best of Namco's games from arcades reside. Legend of Valkrie, Genpei Toumaden, Return of Ishtar, Sky Kid, Rolling Thunder, Dragon Saber, Pac-Land, Assault/Assault Plus, Rompers, Mappy, Super Pac-Man, Pac-Mania, games that are not to be taken lightly. What you said are why Namco keeps putting out the same games over and over on their museums.
I love that these collections have an overworld / hub, it works really well.. it was cool that sonic on the Saturn had one too.. there should definitely be one with Mario games and peach’s castle from the 64.. just replace the games with the paintings.. been a video I’ve wanted to make for a while now, finally getting to it soon.
Finally. Finally finally finally. I remember this game. I was always so intrigued at what it was and just the whole museum thing. I remember playing toypop so much. I need to find this game. I know I have it somewhere. Can’t believe I’m 29 now. I would play this for hours and hours.
I freaking miss when developers actually put effort into game re-releases and compilations. This must've felt truly magical in the 90s. I'm still pretty mad that volumes 2, 4 and 5 never got re-released though. If you put every Namco Museum PS1 game side by side, the box art for each spells out the Namco logo

I wish this was real to be able to walk into be able to play whatever game you want from Namco Museum vol 1 - encore ps1 that would be a big museum and to have the exhibit rooms. When you walk into the rooms you hear the museum music.
@TheInnocentSinful I swear to god I saw this original upload of Namco Museum Vol. 1 back in January/February/March/April 2014, did you redo the original tours to make them more 1080p and upscaled on a better emulator? If so, why did you remove the originals?? Because the only one that hasn't been removed is the Namco Museum Encore Tour from 2014. And if you didn't delete them, did you unlist or private the original uploads from 2014? Thanks. -SuperFlashDriver (aka Monsterlover)
I always loved playing the Namco Museum games on PS1 so nostalgic So I decided to Remake all 5 Namco Museum's and all 29 Arcade games in minecraft to play and explore
Game Ratings: Pac-man, 5/5 Best Game Ever Made Galaga, 3/5 Great But Not Amazing Rally X, also 3/5 Great game but rigged New Rally X, 1/5 Boring And A Duplicate Of Rally X Pole Position, 4/5 Really Good And Well Designed Bosconian, ???, Never Played ToyPop, 4/5 It Reminds Me Of The Polar Express for some reason.
This game is a masterpiece. The virtual museum brings back so many memories with my sister just exploring it and playing toypop together because it was one of the few multiplayer games available to us at the time. I love the music that plays in the museum. Somewhat ominous but still relaxing. The sound of it makes me feel like time is going by quickly but it's peaceful. Everything in the museum is peaceful. Also it's strange how there is no one else in the museum either, just a mannequin at the entrance. Anyways this was my childhood and i still have the game but it doesnt work on my new ps2 slim so i came back to check it out
Your comment made me tear up. My brother and I grew up playing this together on his PS1. It was always funny watching him play as his whole body would lean to the sides during the racing game. He passed away a year and a half ago. I’m so thankful I found this, it brought back many beautiful memories. Cherish your siblings 🤍
1:34:50 - I wonder if the original plan was to have Pole Position II in this collection before at some point it was changed. The cover art has a PP2 screenshot, and the projector is showing the PP2 car as well.
I would honestly hate if I had to slowly walk in first person to each game today. But at the time, my 4-year-old mind was so enamored by the atmosphere because I had all the time in the world.
Oh my lord I found it I finally found it, I've been trying to remember what this fucking thing was for the last 5 years, started to think I'd dreamt it! 20 years ago bloody hell
I had this game for Playstation. It was originally my uncle's copy, but he eventually gave it to me since I played it more than him. And that's how my love of retro gaming started!
1 and 3 are dirt common, they had reprints so that raised their amount of printed copies, while 2,4, and 5 were criminally overlooked, no thanks in big part to gaming magazines back in the day giving them poor scores because Namco "scraped the bottom of the barrel to created voolumes 4 and 5". So Namco started putting out the same games over and over for future Museum games, and left a lot of their classics out.
Actually, it is ALERT! ALERT! probably due to the problems having voice enchantment in the arcade game, despite one of the first games to use voice. Anyway, the alert thing was from the PSP Japan exclusive Namco Museum Vol. 2 soundtrack in the Bosconian soundtrack section.
@@Dizzyizzy42 yeah I have it but I was they can just use ps3s ps1 emulator on a ps4 and bring all the games of ps1 that were on ps3 cause it has all namco museum volumes
I would’ve loved to see all six volumes included in Ps Plus Premium, aside from the AtGames feud and Ms Pac Man, there’s also Arcade Archives ports and the Ms Pac Man Arcade Game series ports of any of the these games featured in these compilations. Huge Namco enthusiast right here.
Namco Museum Vol 1 was my first favorite namco arcade on PS1 same day my first video game console was PS1 when I was a child 3 years old since 2004 in Houston, TX I enjoy playing Pac-Man, Galaga, Bosconian, Rally-X, New Rally-X, Pole Position and Toypop is okay
ToyPop and Popcorn. Once upon a time in 1997, a 4 year-old boy was being babysat by his godfather while his parents went out. The boy’s godfather had just gone to Hollywood Video earlier that day to rent a copy of Namco Museum Vol. 1 and buy popcorn and candy. The boy wasn’t interested in playing at first but the boy’s godfather insisted that his godson choose a game. The boy chose ToyPop. One hour passed, and the godfather wanted to choose another game but the spoiled boy wanted to keep playing ToyPop. They played on for another hour, with fingers greasy with butter from the popcorn. They both shared that memory, and little does that boy’s godfather know how much the boy cherished that night. Sadly, the godfather and the boy haven’t spoken in decades, but if the boy sees his godfather again, he will remind him of this nostalgic moment. My story telling sucks but there’s a memory for you guys! My godfather and I may turn to stardust one day, but may this random memory survive on the internet for as long as RU-vid or Google exists!
Can somebody help me? I have the ps1 namco museum vol 1 but no matter how many credits I insert (by pressing select) i still game over when losing the First one (unlike an arcade machine and not even giving me a countdown)
