Ones you start living on the land and get used to it it becomes an addiction. Imagine having fruit tress, goats, cows and growing your own crops. That's paradise right there.

Holy moly, I shudder to imagine what your hubby & in-laws are weeding in the almost dry, somewhat infertile fields with scarcely any wilting crops…that’s backbreaking work for very little proceeds from the infertile land…😳!??

As humans, i think our soul thrive in natural. Hence i said in the last video that i go to the north to recharge. Just that walk in the bush. Walk barefoot on sand. Interracting with the people who permanently lives in the village. It's an amazing feeling

I could relate to Lance.I’m fully Namibian but wasn’t raised in the village..growing up ..when we would visit for holidays I would cry my eyes out every time they would slaughter a goat,cow or chicken..but would enjoy the food when it’s time to eat..and my family would make fun of me.Its a cultural practice in almost all African cultures…lance would understand it all when he’s grown.Him feeling that way also means he’s an empath.
@AfroAmericaninAfrica
@AfroAmericaninAfrica Год назад
Thank you so much for this reflection!! I really appreciate your perspective on this as a Namibian!💓 It can be difficult for some kids to handle especially when they didn’t grow up around it and he is very empathic as well!

So, I just stumbled upon one of your videos and, let me say this , you are doing so well, your family is solid. I am from Zimbabwe, not too far from Namibia, but I have been living in Atlanta GA since 2000. My wife is from Miami and we have 3 kids, 14,11and 9. We visit Zimbabwe every so often, every 2 to 3 years. My village is so similar to your husband's and Everytime we go there, my family always have a blast. Keep doing what you are doing, it's the best you can do for the kids.

My oldest is 8 years old (Namibia, we live in Windhoek), my boys would also go on about the slaughtering, but sometimes you can't stop them from witnessing the slaughtering.. you can just help by listening them vent, and try to answer their questions as often as they bring it up.

I loved the fact I saw the books on the seat where Lance was sitting so that your daughter could be read to while on this trip at the house, I am sure that this is a cue from your academic background and teaching, are children's books something that the villages are in need of out there to stimulate and engage their minds, excuse me if this seems an ignorant question but I have sent cases of used books from the library and goodwill where to some other countries in the past.
@AfroAmericaninAfrica
@AfroAmericaninAfrica Год назад
Love how you noticed this!! 💜💜💜Yes literacy is a major passion of mine actually! So I always have books with us! I teach children how to read/tutor readers having difficulties here as well! Trying to help bridge the literacy divide! And I’m also obsessed with reading myself 🤓📚 My Kindle is my bff here 😩😂 I have also spent a ridiculous amount of money ordering books here off Amazon for my kids but they’ve come in handy for my reading lessons too!! Looking for more affordable ways to build a bigger kids book library collection here 🤞🏾🙌🏾 Yes, there is a pretty small public library in the town near that village and sometimes at schools but there is definitely a need for more books. Even in my town it’s pretty limited so even more so in a rural setting! Great questions!

The land is definitely a flat flood plain. You need to consider a suitable place that is a lil elevated on the plot. Otherwise, your house will be flooded in rainy seasons.
