I need more than 4 full resolution channels for most of my planes as would a lot of people so I think with ELRS currently being limited to only 4 full resolution channels needs to pointed out more.
This! I would be happy with a mode with lower resolution but more channels. For most planes you don't need full 10 bit channels, 9 or even 8 bit channels would be plenty for many with 6 or 8 channels (maybe even 6 or 7 bit on throttle?). Even better would be a mode which says you have x amount of resolution to split between the channels as you wish. I adore expresslrs (happy model) on my quads though. Of course it's all open source so given the inclination I could download the source and see if I could work it out myself, but so far not bothered to try.
@@xyra132 Good call.. I like your thinking. If they released a version like you describe which would be more suitable for planes. It would widen their market a fair bit. Being open source, I strongly suspect we might see that one day.. though I can see Trappy trying to put a stop to thar idea as it would literally end Crossfire sales. My still unused R9 system is waiting and ready for that day. ;)
TBS is great, but good luck finding stock. If this is just as good, cheaper, and available. Then it's a no-brainer. I don't like the business practice of limiting stock to drive prices.
Looks like decent hardware. I like the plug for an Lipo battery and the cooling fan. But the 2.4 is taking a long time to ship. Ordered my Namimno 2.4 bundle back in July, it wont ship till the middle of September. But I see the 915 module is available now.
Awesome video and chat, Andy! 😃 Now imagine... There are already whoop boards with Express LRS receivers onboard, instead of FrSky D8! Both 2.4Ghz and 900Mhz! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊 BTW, there are bigger brands making Express LRS hardware coming to the market, including full radios! 😱
@@AndyRCchannel ease of being able to use multiple varieties of rx's plus I feel it's best suited for long range which is mostly what I fly on the farm. TBS telemetry was another thing that annoyed the hell out of me and with EpressLrs I have the ability to set my telemetry RF output power and it just has more data sent down stream to my TX which i use bluetooth to relay telemetry to apps like telemetry Viewer or similar which I could never get working with TBS crossfire either on TBS bluetooth or wifi which it seems they are abandoning and are more focused on Quad racing and not long range anymore. Tbs is still decent system and it's great for freestyle or even racing if need be but for what I needed it for it just wasn't impressing me at all. My old R9m with ExpressLRS has been rock solid and like I said rx's are readily available everywhere and I'm not stuck on any certain brand that buy and flash and go. ExpressLRS is updating regularly with more and more improvements too.
They don't need external battery to run, but when they run on the highest output, it sure helps a lot with having a external battery so they don't suck out the juice from the internal battery on the control that fast. Some controls comes with just two 18650 batts originally for example, and those doesn't last that long if your running 1w or higher on the JR-module.
I got the crossfire kit back in december as a starter kit with a Radiomaster TX16S for 240$ 3 receivers and 1 JR module were less than 110$ cause 130$ was the cheapest TX16S incl. color tft. And even the Happy RC are not cheaper than those 110$ starter kit and above all TBS is also a brand which cares for its products so I am still pretty happy, but I am also tempted at least to flash my R9M transmitter and receiver to express LRS.
If only mine arrived already... So far, from what I've seen online, these modules are a step above Happymodel's and beta FPV. I like my HM TX, but most likely going to relegate that to my backup radio and the Naminmo is going into the daily driver
word of warning about that Craft Knife andy, they are classed as Lock Knifes and a offensive weapon if on you in public. You only need a arse of a copper and you can find yourself in a cell over it like i did! I had a Stanley knife in my car which was being used in an actively worked on Audio install, the knife was in a carrier bag with a load of other tools and car audio related bits and well out of immediate reach but when it was found during a search of my car i got arrested and spent several hours locked up. I was eventually released without charge and the knife was given back to me but it could have gone the other way if my old man hadn't been a serving officer himself who was also able to say that he without any doubt knew why i had the knife in the car.
Happymodel is the cheapest, Betafpv middle ground, Namimno premium one. For now Happymodel is working and Betafpv does not (not flasahing) What is wrong with the Namimno to be premium. :)
