I was fascinated to learn that He had studied Joseph Schillinger's theory of Rhythmic, scalar, harmonic, and melodic development: The Interactions of nominal periodicities. Interesting because "Berklee school of Music was started in the period after WWII, as a school where Returning GIs could spend their GI bill money learning to play Jazz and Music Composition based on his Theories (The Schillinger System of Musical Composition).
