Bangladesh has good Metro rail network in capital city of Dhaka which is fast developing. No doubts Namo Bharat is an amazing train and Bangladesh is also getting good rail networks fast. I am from India and have spent good time recently in Bangladesh

As you mentioned correctly that in western nations everyone prefer travelling by public transport, few months back I was in Sydney, Australia, and all the people travelling by train were people working at very high posts, people wearing expensive designer bags and clothes but travelling by train instead of cars shows that they prefer only public transport as a mode of transport to work place. I wish this culture can be adapted here in India too, if the Modiji keep gifting India such miracles.

And most of these new trains will never be affordable for the middle class or lower middle class . @@vktruth Good but Doesn’t matter (same argument here) Year on year growth rate of highways is reducing in China around 5% (total length of 169000 kms in 2021 Vs 177000 kms in 2022) Growth rate of expressways in India is 60% moreover you haven’t included the high class National Highways here which alone is 146,145 kms It’s impossible for China to have 60% growth rate now at this stage for a simple reason that there is no need to. Bottom line - China has done a good job in past and is reaching its max potential. India is a rising star and is growing at very fast rate.

While future definitely looks great, what about present? Currently major express trains are running 8-10 hrs late and is a new normal. Request Railway to fix this first. E.g. 12129 - Azad Hind Express, Departure Mar 24 2024, ARRIVED 11H 51M LATE At Howrah Junction
You definitely cherry picked the data to suit your agenda. I am a frequent train traveller. Delhi-lucknow-gorakhpur. Most of the trains runs on time...1-2 hours delay for a 14-18 hr journey is not much a delay compare to delays of Congress era. We were assured of delay.
