There should Be NO SECOND HOMES for MPs there should be hotels with enough rooms per seat in Westminster and whilst an elected MP they should use those rooms whilst in London. This would save us on Second home expanses, housing stock, travelling expenses and might bring them into the real world a bit. Rupert Low MP donated his MPs salary because he doesn’t need it unlike the rest of them milking the country and going on a spending spree with our money !

Im disgusted by all this and im angry for the pensioners but im also concerned for all us lower and hard working brits that arent on benefits but arent entitled to claim any support but by the time we are taxed and contributions, pay full rent, council tax are below the poverty line how we going to afford our fuel bills, because im affaid to put my heating on, im slready paying £169 direct debit and its sumner ive never had my heating on !!!! 😢

The attendance allowance just for showing up at the House of Lords is £361 a day , meanwhile the winter fuel payment was just £300 a year.

When did pensions become a benefit? It's been paid for over 40+ years by most people. The fact that a lot of people who have hardly paid in can effectively get more via pension credit upsets me & is now even more likely with the withdrawal of the fuel allowance.

I am a pensioner. I’m also a taxpayer. My energy tariff standing charge is £361 per year, just to be connected to the grid. If the government reduced or eliminated the standing charge, then pensioners wouldn’t need a winter fuel allowance. Energy bills would be cheaper for everyone, not just pensioners

He needs to step down from his role at the institute. UK CANNOT be compared to other countries as they have different systems. Accountants do not get £150k at all he is in LALA land. Never mind MP’s spending a week living on Pension it should be a year with annual income set at £12,000. Only then will they get a real picture of the life of the pensioner. Government will NOT be saving £1.3billion with the WFA cuts. If more Pension credit is successfully claimed then the WFA is paid out along with housing benefit and council tax benefit this will total far mor that £1.3billion and therefore wipes out the ‘savings’ this idiot is quoting. He is on,y looking at half of the picture, he does not have a clue about the reality facing pensioners. MP’s should not be allowed any expenses in relation to their second homes or travel to and from Westminster from their constituency or their second homes. MP’s should reduce their salary not increase it.

Up to 4,000 OAP’S could die this winter if “Winter Fuel Payment” stops….😡

So, if the starting/figure for pension credit is £218 per week which could get you an addition £81 per week which gives you £15,548 per year then can someone make sense of this? a person on a New Site Pension gets £221.28 per week a total of £11,507 per year gets sweet FA! So, if you have worked and paid into the system for 35 or more years you are seen as less worthy to those who have worked for 10 years. By the very fact that the DWP will pay the former an additional £200 heating allowance giving them a total of £15,748 plus all the other benefits that come alongside pension credit is a total insult. If you have worked 10 years or less you get 27%/£4,241 more that a person who worked full time and maybe only collected a wage that is call a minimum living wage!!!!
