Dredging existing waterways is cheaper than creating canal through hard rock

Exactly, the media is not asking him the correct question. There are a lot he needs to answer

You too have your story, but your analysis lacks a lot of merit. You did a very crude cost analysis. First you omitted most of the things he mentioned. He explained himself by telling one of the interviewers that he will connect the rivers and even went ahead to mention which rivers he would connect. He mentioned rivers Tano, Pra, Ankobra and Offin. There is even a river that passes close to Ejisu which is close to Kumasi. I think the inland port they were planning to build is close to Ejisu as well. So, he was saying he wanted to connect those rivers and dredging them as well. That is far easier and less costly. Now coming to your 53 billion dollar cost, you used constructing a canal from Cape Coast to Kumasi where you came out with 200+ km. That is not what he said. Cost wise, it could run into exorbitant value using that analogy and simple arithmetic. So many options are out there. Connecting those rivers would not be that kind of distance at all and this does not need rocket science. You can use the map of Ghana drawn to scale to calculate the approximate distances between those rivers that need to be connected. Secondly, instead of going to the West (otew tambaa- draining wallet) for contracts who end up using the local residents to build at a cheap cost, you can fall of a lot of engineers to hire and use the same locals. Dr. Arikana’s African Diaspora Development Institute has lots of African and African American engineers. One of them designed the California bridge. You invite a couple of them with the know how where you can pay the. This would cut cost. You agreed with the possibility, but the rest are bashing him. If it was a Whiteman who said so, nobody would ask questions. We need him to inject some sanity into our political system because we cannot continue to do the same this over and over again for more than 32 years and expect a different result. That is insanity. Big brains matter most. The bashing is too much especially from those who are not enlightened. Probably rail transportation would be far cheaper to carry the goods.

I didn’t bashed him, I said it was possible to build it but we must know the exact problem we are solving and the priority of the people. What is the priority of the people of the Ashanti Region? How urgent is this problem? What is the main challenge of exporters and Importers, does the region have challenges with its transportation system, is there any affordable alternative? Can we understand the cost and benefit of such a project and at this current economic climate is it a prudent project to embark on? The media only will have to ask legitimate questions for him to continue providing us with answers. That is not to say you are running down his idea. I want you to appreciate that the quest to know is not a matter of running him down. What his team has to do is do a proper feasibility studies and get the right estimate for us. It will be important for him to be a game changer who doesn’t just promise like the other politicians but promise with right data and budget. I only want Ghanaians to be convinced beyond reasonable doubt and this can only be done when we all probe further. Our generation must do things different, lots of promises by politicians are after thought. So Relax and let him get us the right answers.

@@Kwameoffeixclusives I didn’t say you were bashing him but the others. If you read my comments, you could see I mentioned you agreeing to the possibility. Others have actually come out to say it is a taboo to bring the sea to Kumasi. It is the connection of water bodies. Yes, I agree with feasibility studies and cost analysis using actuarial scientists but he did not also say he is going to do it come what may. Ashanti and I will say Brong Ahafo have a lot of potential and that is what he wants to tap into. He explained some pf them but these are some of the potentials he is talking about. I tell you none of the politicians in Ghana knew the Western region alone is worth trillions of dollars and he mentioned that in front of one of the ministers. They always refer from the book. The lies they have put there for them. Imports and exports potential is immense. Burkina is there as well as Mali and Niger which are land locked and can use that resources. What disturbs me is that these politicians from both sides talk big but they are being controlled remotely. Can you imagine mortgaging a country with its resources? That’s what our politicians are doing. They intentionally go and sign bogus contracts and cancel them later for judgement debts using their cronies overseas. People are afraid to question them. I see that Ghanaians are allergic to change and anyone who comes out for change is crushed. They advise the police or military to kill a few to put fear into them.

@@tickleluxury5535 take it easy, I have not said it’s not possible, I only want Ghanaians to appreciate and understand his vision, Cheddar is a great guy don’t get it twisted and we like him, we just want more information. Our interest comes out of the fact that lots of politicians have disappointed us,so we are keen on promises this time.
