@@thewalrus45 ...There's a non zero chance Anthy had a plan involving it, and just... "Nope. None of my evil plans can POSSIBLY get as weird as this. I'm done."
@@thewalrus45 from director commentary, the egg is to be reborn into chu chu, and how does Nanami suddenly found an egg? It's 100% Anthy fucking with her too.
@@phuongthaonguyen8571 As a person who recently finished watching the series i assumed it was her brother who put the egg just to twisting with her sense of feeling and thinking or that it might have just been a dream, but that seems understandable.
What makes it better, is that NANAMI STARTED IT. And deserved every bit of it. For multiple reasons, not the least of which is that keeps the karma going JUST right.
I don't know why so many people are shocked or think this is ridiculous. Seeing this out of context, yes, of course it's then weird - but have you even seen the full episode? I think it was a quite clever episode, gives food for thought with a rather surreal imagery. When you think about it: It shows that people tend to value things just because there is a certain name on it - even though it looks plain silly (this bell was supposedly made by "Christian Dior" - therefore it MUST be á la mode. Nanami thinks that she needs this in her life, so that she can show off her "noble status in society"). She's so convinced about her new accessory that even she, herself turns into the animal that is suppose to wear a cowbell....... a cow. Not that weird when you had something like "Kafka" during your A-Levels.
Utena is something special, Ikuhara shamelessly combining serious social and gender roles commentary and then crazy "Lmao look girls turning into Cows or there's a boxing kangaroo" in the next.
@@RhiannaAtriedesjust read a twitter thread about “rolling on the hay” is a euphemism for s-x, and with her being fed hay by touga then sold- yeah. also they said nanami’s cow arc parallels anthy and her brother and i had to sit tf down and process that and go rewatch this episode
its adult and psychological. i think its about growing up and becoming an actual person. plus it seems characters have emotional/psychological issues they need to work through. like in the black rose arc. people say its a yuri anime but its so much more and tbh that was more the movie.
1:58 I can't seem to think clearly anymooooore.... Am I having illuuuuuusions? Do I need my appendix/appendage remoooooved? Bring me a blanket somewhere and sooooooooothe Hahahahahaha
This anime is so underrated. Thanks goodness the dub is good too, makes these scenes so much better(hearing it is so much better than reading the jokes). Crazy how this anime can go from scenes like these to some pretty fucked up shit later on tho.
Anthy kinda caused this entire episode to happen by.. naming her pet Cow Nanami so Nanami would get the bell. They have a weird petty rivalry going on in the background most of the show.
It was a very moooving scene from what I recall but it cud have been better. I mooch rather hoof seen the original Japanese version which had a moooooch funnier delivery. moooooo....
theres always a message or something even in the nanami filler. in this case if i remember i think this epsiode was about arrgance and not knowing some stuff and acting wrong because you dont realize it. plus letting go once you realize you've made a mistake
