I love how the books look without the dust jacket! And the old school pictures on the dust jackets :) Thanks for sharing!

The mystery of Nancy Drew books! I never realized all that info about the “author.” TFS. Do you realize how many years ago I read them? In the 50’s. Geez!

What's crazy is that those stories were "classics" when you read them. They were written in the 30s.

I really want to read the _Nancy Drew_ books some day. I first heard about her from Claudia in _The Baby-sitters Club._ 😀

Hi Michele I love when you post. Looking beautiful today. The lip is a perfect color on you. I can’t do anything with a coral tone and wish o could. I have read all the older Nancy Drew Books as they were my two older sisters full series. They were 7 and 10 years older than I. I knew about this editing and definitely was disappointed but whats new.

It's sad how often history is disappointing. Thanks, I understand, I always wished I could pull off blonde hair, but, NOPE! 🤣

I love that you have your mom’s copy! How special! 🥰 I never knew the author was actually multiple authors. That’s quite interesting! I haven’t read Nancy Drew since I was a kid, but I remember enjoying them and thinking she was so cool. 😅 Great video, Michele! You’re looking absolutely radiant! ✨

A mystery about a mystery writer! I love that. Even more interesting than the books! All of our Nancy Drew’s have 20 chpts. so I’m off to see if I can find the real thing and compare! We have a lot! My daughter collected them growing up. And a lot of Trixie Beldon too. I wonder if the story is the same with that author?

Hmm, it will be interesting to see what changes you might find...I wonder if entire chapters are removed or just certain passages.🤔 I am not sure about the Trixie Beldon series.

That's very interesting about the arthur of the books. I've never read a Nancy Drew book although they sound good. That's neat that you still have your mom's copy.😊

The mystery solving process of the stories were fun. But what made me struggle was the lack of character arc for Nancy or anyone else. Nancy lacked any real flaws and she seemed quite unscathed at the loss of her mother. I think they should have used that past tragedy as the catalyst that launched Nancy into her quest for righting wrongs, and that she would be haunted by it from time to time, revealing a flaw in her personality and critical thinking skills, as well as it affecting her relationship with her father. Perhaps she would be stuck in the grieving stage of guilt over her mother's death. She could go through life feeling deprived of having a mother, feeling a sense of inferiority compared to most of her peers, and she channels it in her detective work and assistance with her father. She takes on a nurturing role, feeling she needs to fill a mother's shoes, care for her father and assist him as a partner. That could have also been partially why she became a sleuth, initially to help her father with his firm and integrate it toward unrelated issues that draw her compassion and empathy. She may criticize Carson's little flaws in his routine, get annoyed at him leaving business clothes laying around and dirty dishes on the table when he's in a rush for the maid to pick up and clean. These are realistic issues and they may have made for great story arcs and conflicts Nancy was lacking.

The age of the kids who normally read are not looking for details like we do as adults so that’s why the details are missing. It’s Mrs simplistic writing so girls will not stop reading. This is my take of the books from my childhood.

Nancy was a great character- I binge read her until I finally just burned out on them. I did have a favorite one but I don’t remember what it was now. I tried reading Hardy Boys as well but didn’t get into them until show because Shawn Cassidy and Steven Parker - I mean come on. 😂
