My kitten passed away from FIP yesterday evening, so I've been spending the entire day rewatching Gabs old Nancy drew playthroughs to keep me occupied with something I enjoy. This came at just the right time, thank you
@@VorpalSnickerSnack I'm sorry it's a language mistake on my part, my kitten has passed away from FIP and an infection. We say "lost" in my country, I didn't think about how it would translate to English. But thank you for your condolences
Such a strange one, there was like zero dialogue just right into puzzles for twenty minutes and then the most chaotic Nancy conversations ever 😂 I didn’t even realize George was with you until she fell on the bridge 💀
With only 2 Nancy games missing, it's sad for me to see the series come to an end. I first started watching you because of this series back in 2020, and have been playing your Nancy videos in the background while working on college assignments since the beginning. This is my last semester, so to me it does seem quite fitting to have the series end at the same time as the classes i've always used them for. Thank you always!
Me as a kiwi freaking out cause Gab is playing a Nancy game based in my home country Post watch edit: The fact Philip cant swim at all is hilarious considering as an island country with constant nearby beaches/lakes/rivers, most of us are taught water safety and/or swimming from a young age. Also Gabs pronunciation of some of the Maori words was really good considering she hadn't heard them said prior. If you and Sean were to ever visit, I definitely recommend Waitomo caves if you come to the north island at all (it's where hobbiton is anyway). I haven't been in years but they do guided boat tours through the caves which are fully populated with glow worms and it's just so magical.
It's been nigh on 30 years since I visited Waitomo Caves, and the experience of seeing the glow worms while slowly floating on the river below is still with me! I'm hoping to be able to share the experience with my spouse, if we are able to make it to NZ on sabbatical.
I visited New Zealand 6 years ago and it was amazing! Went to Queenstown, hiked to Milford Sound and then went to North Island and saw the Waitomo caves. It was fun seeing places I’ve been to like Te Anau. I can’t wait to go back again one day!
I love New Zealand 🇳🇿 ❤ never been, but know some ppl who go every year to visit family. Every picture is simply beautiful and they have had nothing but good experiences. Love from Michigan
This is probably one of my least favorite Nancy games I’ve played personally but Gab made it so much fun to watch 😆 I’ve never really realized how funny the in game dialogue is haha
Not Nancy being super condescending about people being on reality tv when SHE'S on reality tv. 'But you're sma-smart???' So are you Nancy, yet here are you lol!
Gab. I must tell you how much I love that you read EVERYthing. Literally the best! So annoying when you watch play though and they skip all the information in books and such. ❤❤❤
It's bittersweet that there's only two more games after this one that the original Herinteractive crew did before the change over in the company. If Gab is ever able to somehow find a working copy of Stay Tuned for Danger, I would love to see her play it.
The plot of this game is a bit of a mess, but I'm glad you had so much fun with it! Here are my tidbits: - Replaying this recently, I couldn't unhear Patrick as Bennett Foddy. I know Bennett is Australian but Patrick's cadence and voice still reminded me of Getting Over It. Pot Guy would definitely sink like a gorilla, too. - The credits say the announcer was Carol King, not Lani. But I definitely thought that was Lani's voice, too! Weird. I also learned that George and Jamila are the same voice! - Her Interactive is apparently a sponsor of Pacific Run. At least that's what I assume based on their logo being all over the weird photo op wall in the puzzle palace. - The confessional clips for some of the unseen teams were voiced by Her Interactive employees, I think. - Monster (the cow game) was the game that Lukas the prankster kid liked to play with you in Captive Curse. And of course Raid was Karl's torture device- I mean... game. - The quake shack can have some kind of malfunction and you need to hide under the table, which one really should do during a simulated earthquake anyway. ;) (I say as someone who lives in California and hardly ever bothers to get under something during quakes...) - Sonny's trunk has a jade carving from Scarlet Hand, a sticker from Minette, a poster from Venice, and a Dread Isle (Ransom of the Seven Ships) sign. - In the comic when Jin is describing the Avengers team he wants to assemble, the silhouette of Nancy is similar to the old one they put on the boxes of the early games! Cute. - If you find any of the Easter eggs in this game, you can use them on the scoreboard to get your team some more points. Onward to Greece! Can't say I really loved the plot of that one either, but at least Grigor is cute. Hehe.
The game having Nancy sheer a sheep is wild considering the training you go thru for that. I know its just a game, but as someone who works with livestock I just started laughing.
2:32:50 what really gets me is when you ask "you've seen aliens???" He says "just a little" like...there's a quantitative limit to the amount of aliens you have seen to count as "a lot?" And if that's the case how many alien sightings HAS he had??
As a New Zealander living away from home right now, you have no idea how excited I’ve been knowing you’ll be playing this game based in nz! 🇳🇿🇳🇿🇳🇿 Can’t wait to watch it all in one sitting and listen to the terrible accents 💖
@@olivehebberd7472 yea i think she did really well. Maori is all phonetics so her Dutch and German make it much easier. Except O-ta-goh-meen-es (Otago mines) lol
I’d just started the video when I posted this. I was expecting the voice acting accents to be a little off like some of the other games but it makes sense they’re fine when Patrick is played by a kiwi 😂 Gabs pronunciation has been really good! Also makes sense with all the languages she can speak
I'm having such a horrible day that the universe needed to manifest a new Nancy Drew video just to make me feel better. They said 'we have to pull out the BIG guns'. Or at least that's how I choose to interpret this 😂
I just finished watching the VOD for this! Loved it! Just wanted to say that your pronunciation was so good for the Maori words. The vowels do sound the same as Japanese so you were spot on! For future reference though, 'Wh' is pronounced as an 'F'. And all the R's are rolled 😊❤ Thanks for another Nancy video!
Having played ever single game as it came out over my lifetime I have to say it really brings me joy to sit and watch you play these games for the first time!
Wait hold up, my worlds are coming together (and I'm pretty sure they're the same as yours). The end credits say the designer is Cathy Roiter. Jeanne and Cathy Roiter won the USA Jigsaw National competition in the pairs division and have done well in other ones as well. Wowee!
@@Lisa_Flowers I actually tried looking into this, they're _very likely_ the same person. The jigsaw team the roiter sisters are part of are known as Ersatz Quidnuncs, which is a book in the Nancy Drew series (haunting of castle malloy), there is a Jeanne and Cathy Roiter who are credited as having worked on a dozen of the Nancy Drew games, and listed on both the Jigsaw federation website and Cathy's LinkedIn is her living in Duvall, Washington
For any one who’d like to know how to pronounce Māori words, vowels (aeiou) are pronounced ah, eh, ee, oh, oo. And wh makes a f sound like ph in phone. And anywhere you see ng together, you say it like goiNG, put your tongue on the roof of your mouth. Also roll your r’s
25:56 they pretty much just put in a replica of one of the Te Papa exhibits that explains natural disasters as well as some ‘games’ where you can add this to a house to make it ‘earthquake proof’. Also the quake shack is a thing on that exhibit though I can’t remember what it’s actually called. I remember going in as a kid and being scared but now it’s just a very cool piece of machinery and engineering to me
Ooh I'm excited for this. I'm from New Zealand and I'm a HUGE bird nerd, and I didn't realise this was an NZ-based Nancy Drew until I clicked 🤩 The team bird names in Māori are really cool, a few mistakes (Kōkako instead of Kokoka) and left out the macrons (which can change whole meanings to words) but most stuff is super accurate, Nancy Drew games are really good like that! Side note, I recommend looking up Kōkako singing on YT sometime, they are known by most for their haunting song 😊 Anyway bird stuff aside 😅 I love your videos Gab! Your channel is my favorite on RU-vid. Appreciate you!
Since I discovered you, I've been watching your old videos every day. I love your gameplay, especially the puzzle games. You're definitely one of my favorite RU-vidrs now!
ive been having a tough time lately and one of the things that gets me out of my head is getting cozy and watching these nancy drew playthroughs. Great work Gabs
This game was absolutely hilarious 😂 I didn’t realize Bess was so funny but her dialogue was soooo good in this one haha I can’t believe we’ve almost made it through all the Nancy games now!! Definitely would love to see a replay of Shadow at the Water’s Edge sometime 👀👻
I wasn’t sure if I was just imagining this😂 I only know Highlander from my gma watching the show when I was growing up so my memories of it r hazy at best. I love Nancy games💜
Actually you have 4 if you count the Nancy Drew:Dossier games. There is 2 of them Lights Camera Curses and Resorting to Danger. They're just as fun as the regular PC games.
Also heard from my Mum who studied Japanese that apparently the vowels in Te Reo Māori and Japanese are the same. Haven't finished the whole video yet but so far great pronunciation so I guess it must be so
It would be really fun if Sean joined in on a Nancy game again! I've been binge watching the other three videos with them and I just love to watch them have fun together!😂 I never knew these games existed when I was a child (probably because Nancy is not big in my country sadly) and I believe one of my first ever Gab videos was the Nancy Salem one, so this serie has been really special to me❤so sad there's only two left😿
I think Gab said (might have been during a livestream before gameplay started) that for first time playing, she won't bring him back in because they tend to distract each other from the story and it made it hard for a considerable amount of viewers to follow along then. (To be fair, since I sometimes have them on in the background while doing things, I can understand that, since they talked over the dialogue a lot.) She might, however, bring him back in for replays when it's not important anymore for the viewers (and her) to follow that closely. :)
@@baka_yu9343 Yeah I completely understand that, makes sense. We'll see how it goes in the future :) (also, I usually have them on as background noice when I try and go to sleep, so cozy! :3)
the antikythera mechanism is actually super interesting! and what they based the "indiana jones and the dial of destiny" movie on. Fantastic playthrough as always Gab!
NOT HOW YOU IMAGINED HIM? I saw the haircut in the drawing in Danger by Design, but to me he looks very underwhelming for an Alien conspiracy nut. hecking dangerous, actually.
Just wanted to say I’ve noticed in other playthroughs you sometimes say check! or that’s done! in a totally Nancy way and I’m glad it’s not just me. Love the Nancy games! Totally a comfort series for me ❤️
I was just thinking I was getting the Nancy itch this week!!! What perfect timing, I love your Nancy series. Getting scared to see it coming to an end!!!! 😅
Someone probably already said this, but its okay. The mention of the computer found on the shipwreck in Antikythera was real. They call it an OOPArts, short for Out Of Place Artifacts.
I'm a bit late to the party, but this was definitely the funniest Nancy. 😂 The dialogues were hilarious. Also I'm wondering if there's going to be more of that Annunaki storyline from this (and the Egypt) game, it was quite intriguing despite all the silliness. 👽🤔
I waited for Gabs to play the newest one! ❤ I haven't bought it or watched anyone else play it just because I love her Nancy playthroughs so much. Finally, I can sit back and enjoy this. 😊
Still watching, but GOODNESS why is this game SO HILLARIOUS? 😂😂 I'm dying at Bess: "He looks like one of those beautiful things they have in Italy." Nancy: "A sculpture?" Bess: "A barista..." HELP 😂😂😂
I'm sad I missed this. I'm currently in the area the game is set in. South Island, Queenstown But the time difference to New Zealand means Gab's streams are in the middle of the night...
I remember people HATING this game when it came out because everyone thought it was boring but I knew you’d love it because of how puzzle heavy it is 😂
Whoever said this game wasn't as good as the others is bonkers. It was a funn watch (All the games are just as dumb and messy as each other imo. But that's kind of what I like about them lol) I also love how all of sunny's notes and journalling from the other games have kind of foreshadowed this one in a way. And here I thought they were just cute callbacks and Easter eggs. Also, pt2; wht the heckin heck. How did I miss this upload for 3 whole weeks? D: I live for these nancy drew videos. Ps, I would die for Bess Edit: What is with all these profound quotes? 😱
