Everytime I watch this video, I learn something new about trusting God. Thank you Nancy Guthrie for being so authentic and bold and sharing your pain! You don't realise what an impact you've had on my life!
I went to the doctor and he confirmed that I was pregnant. When I went in for my 9 week check up. He used an old hand held stethoscope. He pushed down hard and listened. He left the room. Then the nurse came back in and said "We scheduled you for a D & C first thing in the morning." I was in shock. I went home and my husband scheduled an appointment with a different doctor at 7 the next morning. He put the ultrasound on my stomach. My daughter was perfectly formed and sucking her hand. You could see and hear the heart beating. She was born with disabilities. She had an amazing and happy life for 34 years. I miss her everyday. The first doctor made the decision (without asking me) to abort her. We made the decision to have her and we loved every minute of her life.
"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” But I guess, till then, it's going to hurt...
I cannot imagine the sorrow of losing a child. I was extremely naive and very ignorant towards those grieving until I got to experience grief firsthand. I cringe at the things I had said to people before I experienced grief thinking I was helping. The words in our vocabulary do not do the agonising lessons and pain and void we feel in our grief any justice. Grief is horrific and traumatic. I've been told I have "complicated grief" because I'm still in deep grief four years later. I'll love my family forever so I'll grieve them forever. What's sad is most of the people you thought were friends drift away because they feel uncomfortable by your pain. They would rather you just get over it already. Now, I can only tolerate people who have lost a loved one because it's like an unspoken language. There's comfort in knowing they just get it and you don't have to correct or break it down. They get the sorrow and numbness. I had a friend who tried to compare me losing my family to death with the breakup of her 3 month relationship. The things people say are just beyond me. My manager said to me, "Ahh well, at least they're out of their misery." She literally had no idea what had happened. Out of their misery? I didn't realise I was putting down an elderly sick hamster 🙄 My colleague said, "You know they would have stuck cotton wool up their butts because corpses leak out." As if thats a vision I need. What I have learnt about people who have never truly grieved a loved one, is that they are absolutely USELESS when it comes to comforting those who are grieving. They ought to say nothing at all.

I had to say goodbye before I said hello 💔 my baby boy was stillborn, Sebastian was our first and only baby. We weren’t able to have more children. It has been the most devastating pain in my life. Losing a child is indescribable pain 💔💔💔.
