I met her in 1969 at Shilitos Department Store in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was there on " promotion;" And signing autographs with a "million dollar smile" for everyone she met! Beautiful and classy lady. I went away feeling "great in ❤️ and spirit! RIP
5 things I love about Nancy Wilson 1. her voice 2. her walk with swag 3. her mouth slants to one side. 4. her songs is timeless 5. her move the mic in front of her face
I noticed that as she got older , her mouth started to slant to one side. On the videos when she was young I didn't see that. She is so expressive and she sings with her whole being.
@@ireneluciusellison4350 look up her singing strike up the band. She was much younger and her mouth is definitively slanted in that performance. She’s gotta get that huge sound out somehow right?! 😂😂

I'm 50 years old and I can remember hearing Nancy Wilson in my house .... From a young boy.. ..My mother and aunts and friends. Use to .be in the living room lip singing to all Nancy hits.. .....Today my mother is 84 years young and I'm showing her all Ms Wilson concerts on You Tube ....Love my mothers smile:-) Thank you Ms Wilson for all the love you have is through your voice.
Hi Eric, My mom loved Nancy Wilson also, she passed May 17, 2011, My dad died , April 17, 1971, many years ago. I'm an only child, with no kids, either, I'm 54, he was much older than my mom, even tho, he looked younger. Just like you mentioned, making her happy watching this. I'm looking at my mom and dad's picture, wishing, my mom was here watching this with me, she would have loved all of this. RU-vid is the s--t. I'm enjoying it I love this kind of jazz, because of her. I'm enjoying it, but not the same as I would if she was here. I was with my mom, most of my life, minus the last 10 yrs of hers. My whole life is changed. Sometimes, I feel strange in this world without her. My family hasn't been supportive at all, with the exception of one. If she were alive, she would be 78, this year. Enjoy your mom, it's a sad world without them, we were, like sisters, when you saw her, you saw me. Hug your mom, as much as you can. God bless, U, 7 your mom! Peace! I'll continue, remembering my mom watching this.
Eric Fortner Read what you wrote and had to say that I'm 50 myself and remember hearing nancy on my mom's stereo back in the 80's and just like you all I wish I could go back in time to those days when I first heard what a phenomenal artist she really is...
+Eric Fortner I'm 64 years old, and I have been listening to Nancy since I was 17 years old. At that time, young people were listening to The Rolling Stones and other rock singers, but I was the odd one. I only wanted to listen to people who could really sing, and Nancy Wilson was and is still one of my all time favorites.
I'm doing the same thing with my 84 year old mother. We've been watching Count Basie too. :-) I grew up hearing all of the greats during their time as well. My mom loves Nancy and my dad loved Count Basie.
I am choked up, I just read that the wonderful Nancy Wilson died yesterday Dec. 13, 2018 at 81 years of age after a long illness. I played her "Guess who I Saw Today" , on the cassette in my 94 Nissan [which was just stolen by NYPD tow pound] so often it was like nectar. It is as though I lost both dear friends this year.
A goregous, utterly classy women. Not to mention she has her own unique style and vocalizes such that even God would cry tears of joy! Love you, Nancy.
When I was little my mother played nancy Wilson records always... When I was 18 became a nite club singer .... Was able to toss a few nancy Wilson favorites in.....that was fun That's all my mother played .the crowd loved it....was a great .
I grew up in St. Louis, with its vibrant jazz scene, and was aware of Nancy Wilson even before she recorded her first Capitol album. There was no mistaking a great star was on the horizon, and when that first album came out she took a rocket ship ride to the top. Among musicians she was known as one of the most knowledgeable and focused artists around. Each new album revealed a steadily evolving talent and Nancy quickly ascended to the top. She was a perfectionist, which made her even more attractive to the greatest instrumentalists.
You knew about Nancy before Swingin's Mutual in 1961? Wow, I thought I was her oldest living fan. I didn't know about her until about 1971, but I managed to collect all of her albums over the years. That first one was a little difficult to find, but I finally got it and completed my collection. I'm sure you can imagine my heartbreak when my collection was stolen.
I love when her voice goes up at the end of a phrase,, she is a legendary classy lady with a non duplicatable voice and style ,, I so enjoyed this concert on this quiet Sunday afternoon,, it made my day ♥️🥰 R.I.P. my love 🙏🏽
That's.the most important thing in music is phrasing or should.I say as a vocalist diction is one.of.the.most important thing as a singer. I wish more of today artists would get rid of.the amplifiers. My Mother.loved."If I Could.I Would." She.had 8 brought 8 copies of.Regina Bell's rendition of that song and sent it to each of us kids. I'll always love Me Nancy Wilson.She.has been with me though my infancy. I don't know where I would be with our me some good jazz and jazz vocalist. And Nancy Wilson, was one the best S. I .H. P.
Thank u U tube for bring this precious joy of seeing great Lady in concert and hear her perform something I never had the pleasure of seeing her in concert❤❤
the Nancy Wilson "cry" So many singers should listen closely to her tone and phrasing. A true songstress! She will be missedThank you for the music, Nancy. We will always have that!
Her style was shown in Diana Ross, Whitney Houston, an even Barbar Strisand and many more and I definitely know Phyllis Hyman. Jazz was the Start, blues, rnb, pop! The LEGENDARY MS NANCY WILSON.
I just can't stop listening to Ms. N. Wilson. A gift from our Lord God, the Lord willing, that her songs that We're not release will be arranged, and again released. Again I do want Thank Those who have make this Podcast possible. T.L.W.😊
This lady, the late, great Nancy Wilson is incomparable! Her registry of recorded treasures are a gift she left to all who wish to understand what true musicianship and vocal artistry are all about! STUDY CHILDREN... and learn!
Nancy was a favorite singer of mine for so many years! She called herself a "song stylist" but she could tell a story with her style of singing like no one I ever heard before or since. What emotion she can evoke in us, we can feel what she is singing and her mood, right along with her and that's exactly what makes a perfect performer! RIP, Nancy, you may be gone but we have your recordings so that you will NEVER be forgotten!
The first LP I brought at sixteen was Nancy Wilson Hollywood My Way in 1961 I played it to death. She has been my favorite ever since and I have quite a few of her albums today.I had the pleasure of seeing her twice in my life and both times were fantastic. She was one of my truly favorite female singers and she is greatly missed.May she always rest with her Creator.Love you Nancy (the baby)Wilson.
Queen Nancy Wilson. You are the ultimate gem of a woman and song stylist. And playing the piano for you is the great Llewelyn Mathews. When I was in my teens and early twenties, I use to play trumpet with Llewelyn in various groups. He is also a great arranger and musical artist. Ms. Nancy Wilson; your artistry will continue forever. Elegance, musical excellence, professionalism and beautiful sounds.
Good God how I love this lady. Her voice, style and persona is so moving. I miss her not being here. May she continue to R.I.P. Thank you for posting this video.
The Baby ,sweet Nancy ,as Cannonball A. Call her. I remember seeing her in Detroit, at the great Fisher Theatre, She put on a great show, my God she's Fabulous.
Thank God for you Sweetheart!! Your storytelling skills falls in line with all things working together to please God. You always remind your listeners that love is the greatest of all when you put it into action. Bless your soul for being such human that loves to share your heart through the wonders of song on the platform of blues and jazz. Oh what a difference you are making to make this world a better place in the hearts of your people around the globe.
Greetings and thanks for sharing, Fancy Ms Nancy can sing anything, as though she wrote the feelings in every eloquent note, I love her gift...stay kind 🤗
Luhv, Nancy ! (RIP)
I can't believe I've lived through such an amazing time in the history of music. From Michael Jackson to Nancy Wilson and beyond. Thank You for sharing this video, it brought me so much joy....
A truly classic LP.!!!!! Another classic is the one where she is seated (back to back) with the talented George Shearing. Each one has an LP of the orher one.
