"The Nanoleaf patent conversation really underscores the importance of finding a balance between protecting intellectual property and encouraging innovation. It's a delicate dance that can shape the future of technology."
I have 3 triangles, 6 hexagons, and five mini triangles. I love them. You can create any kind of lighting with them. Even before i added the last 3 hexagons the unit was brighter than the ceiling fixture. I particularly like some of the intermittent lighting patterns, like “Sleeping.”
This is the first video I’ve seen on the Shapes line so sorry if this question is answered in future videos of yours or somewhere else, but people mentioned that a problem with this line compared to the original nanoleaf triangles is they have hotspots. I assume this refers to what I noticed when you maxed the brightness and I could clearly see all the points of light in each triangle. Now I have a starter kit of the original triangles that I bought when they came out and have been using them since, luckily I’m not as invested as others that have tens if not hundreds of them, but I I’m worried about switching over to Shapes because people that have purchased them after owning the original set say that it has hotspots and the shape just doesn’t connect as seamlessly because of a roundness that the Shapes line has. My question to you is now that you’ve had these for a while, what do you think of them? Have you noticed any of the things I’ve mentioned, are you just now noticing these things after reading my comment, or maybe even now you’re sitting there looking at your lights and think, “what is he on about?” If you do answer I want to thank you ahead of time as this will help me decide if I should invest in the newer lines of Shapes or if I should stock up on as much of the original lights now while I have the chance. This is mostly because Nanoleaf just recently announced the retirement of the original lights after only about 5 years or so of releasing, which also makes me question if I should trust investing into Shapes for all my smart home lighting now that I have my own place or if I should be weary 5 years down the road, but that’s a whole other matter. Thanks again, for both your potential reply and this video.
Hi Frank, great questions and I appreciate the effort 👌personally I don't feel like you need to have these lights above 60% as they are mega bright and at that % you don't see any hotspotting at all. Turned up to 100% you can see the three areas of which the light is emitted but I never have them past 40% tbh. The connections are stable and sturdy and quality is great 👍 personally only issues I had was 1st connections but after that 3 months later they are amazing. Hope this helps mate. Thanks 4 ya time and hope to see you around in the comments in the future 😀
I'm possible getting those and are wondering if you can easily manage multiple separate triangle sets. Also, are these lights functional enough so you don't need a ceiling lamp?
I'm on android mate - I did perform a firmware update a few weeks ago and tbh once I had got them connected they have been fine since I'm also using 7.3.2 277 on the app. Regards
I have both mate - These are great - very bright and once setup loads of personalised stuff you can do. The govee ones are cheaper and if you have other govee rgb can all be synced together. Both good keep your eyes out for some deals and go with that. Regards
Hi mate I'm not too fussed this video is from 2 years ago and if it was serious there would be a total sales stop. I'll be inreated ri see what happens tho
