My project is urban fantasy this year. I don't outline. I've tried but my brain just doesn't work like that. I have an idea of what the story is about and some characters. My characters and I start the journey together. 🤠My goal is about 75000 words. 🤞Good luck with your project!

That’s such a wonderful way to put it, that you and your characters start the journey together 😍 I guess that’s gonna be me this year, too. And 75k, wow! Looking forward to making progress together! Any tips from your personal experience drafting without an outline? ❤️

@@saraawynnie uhmm advice? Show no fear and don't overthink. 😅It can all be made better on the next time through. I take a few minutes before starting a new session skimming what I just wrote and deciding what could happen next. It gets easier as the days go on. And I always keep a small notebook close when I'm not at the computer. We can do it! 💪

Aah I'll be reading your words every time before a new writing session, thank you! We need to be kind to ourselves, the first draft is never a masterpiece but it's already something @@chriso117 ❤

I'm planning to write a high fantasy romance novel this nanowrimo. Till today, I have completed outlining the plot, using your videos about the save the cat beats, and I made a mood board and a map for the book. I've been wanting to write this book for three years now but back then, the idea was just a brief scene which was like the starting point of the book. I didn't know where it would lead the characters, and how would the characters develop. But now, when I have a near to fully fleshed idea, from the start, mid, to end, (though i still need to brainstorm a little more) I am confident enough to say that, I am prepared to write this novel now. My project is called #p.soul. or Dancing Souls and Divine Destinies. so there's this fiery demon princess named Gauri, and then, there's Mingyue, a serious guy wanting to attain divinity. He meets Gauri by chance, and they end up on a big adventure together. They're connected in a way that goes beyond time and space. Their souls have met in different lives, over and over. Each time, it leaves a mark on their hearts. Now, in this story, they meet in their second life. Their past echoes through a mystical forest and old memories start coming back. They're on a big quest, and there are a lot of ancient mysteries waiting to be uncovered. It's a journey full of love, trials, uncovering bitter truths of the past, awakening artefacts after solving mysteries, and of course finding rare mythical creatures!!

@@saraawynnie i wanna give up drafting my novel 😩 nanowrimo is giving me a headache with all that wordcount. i'm literally burnt out. for the first six days, i was so energized for my first nanowrimo, that i wrote 3k words per day. and now, I cannot even write proper 300 words. The worst part is, this novel is a very complex one. with characters living at least 5 lives. which means i need to outline the plot structure for every life, from their meeting, their journey towards magic, murder mystery, tragedy, failure, success, happy ending / sad ending, death, and repeat. i'm burnt out. it's november 8 and my wordcount for today is 247 and my total words are 16922 any tips?

@@skiivenus Hi, friend, thank you so much for reaching out 🤗 I completely relate to your dilemma and I do have a tip, which I hope you'll embrace. My tip is to disregard the word count. I'm actually in the same boat as you, in that my novel is quite complex and I'm constantly plotting and brainstorming in between drafting. This is necessary for this particular story. I think you can enjoy the writerly energy that nanowrimo provides, but without forcing yourself to write words that aren't what you actually want to write. Even though Nanowrimo's main goal is to write 50k, the magic around it is in the fact that you're dedicating yourself to a project for a whole month. So, next time you sit down to write, put on your favourite ambience or music, get your project's dedicated notebook and your favourite pen and dive into your characters' world. You said you need to outline a lot of things and all of them sound really fun to plan, so have fun! Just think "I'm gonna go to a really cool place now" and outline away. Make your new goal to sit down and learn something new about the wonderful story you're writing ❤ another tip I have, if you really want to write something, is to "intuitive write". I mention this in some videos, but it's basically where you just sit down and write longhand anything that makes you excited about your story, anything that you really want to write about the world you're creating. You can give yourself prompts if you want. For example, my main WIP, which I've been intuitive writing for a while now, is set in a snowy place. I love writing about different ways to look at and interpret snow, how it affects different scenes and makes them sharper, or softer, depending on the way I describe it. This is me having fun writing and not caring if I'm writing something that will stay in my book or not, or how many words I'm actually getting on the page. I hope these tips help you ❤ remember, writing a novel is so much more than putting words on the page. The writing process is a long long long marathon, so we should try our best to make it enjoyable - the most important thing is to dedicate time to your story. The rest is a bonus ❤

@@saraawynnie oh my god. thank you so much saraa! i should definetly try that. and you're right i shouldn't be focused on only getting the words done but actually enjoy the process. thank you so much!
